Subject: Making hair in 3D Max

I got a PM from someone, whom I guess is too shy to post on the boards. They asked me if it's possible to make hair in 3D Max. Is it? Are there any tutorials out there explaining how?

You mean to model prop hair in 3dsmax for use in Poser? Sure, that's possible. There are several good merchants here who use 3dsmax to make props/items for Poser. Stonemason being one of the more prolific that I'm aware of.

I don't know of anyone using it specifically for making hair, but if you know how to model and use 3dsmax (that's the real key; knowing how to use the app well enough to attempt something like this!), then of course it's entirely possible.

Ok, thanks. I'll give the person the link to this thread so he/she can follow it.

I could be mistaken but I think Swamm models hair in MAX

just had an IM asking the same question. having never modelled hair,I'd probably select a bunch of edges from the head, then extrude them into strips, apply a 'face' uv map & add several divisions so it bends. then maybe add a cloth modifier & run a sim to get it falling corectly or you could go the high poly route & use the hair & fur modifier & convert that to splines...though that would be overkill there must be some tut's for modelling hair out there "that's the real key; knowing how to use the app well enough to attempt something like this!" agreed, once you know the tools then making anything is alot easier
