Here's the sentence I'm SURE you all are looking for; "...we're all working very hard on Bryce 6 which is currently scheduled to be released later this year." AS

Ever the optimist Smith... Here's the sentence I'm SURE you were not looking for; But don't get too ancy just yet, Bryce 6 is still many months away. Couple months = 2 Many months = more then 2 February = now More then 2 months = Summer??? Or probably Fall knowing marketing!!! arrrrggh! Sorry Bryce 5.5 = Glass empty these days not full

AgentSmith ( ) posted Mon, 06 February 2006 at 10:21 PM

Lol, I wouldn't say optimism, since I was already clued into B6's position to certain degree. :o) Marketing, shmarketing. The whole of the internet is SO clued into what's always going on in the world, no marketing is needed to garner interest. After you see beta testers coming up for air in the forums, you know it's 2-3 weeks away. Whatever marketing they do, will be when the program is already finished, and they are just deciding what content to put in it, etc. A Glass in never really half empty if its booleaned. It just appears that way. AS

good news to a degree! I'm hoping daz can draw upon some of the stuff in carrara because they are owned by eovia...great renderer there...

wildman2 ( ) posted Tue, 07 February 2006 at 1:26 AM

cool

"Reinstall Windows" is NOT a troubleshooting step.

foleypro ( ) posted Tue, 07 February 2006 at 2:07 AM

Folks I am salavating to get to Version 7 forget 6 lets just go to version 7 ..........

AgentSmith ( ) posted Tue, 07 February 2006 at 3:40 AM

I think B7 could be close to Vue 5. What I really hope is that B7 is nice and close to Vue 5 Infinite. I like how it is implied that Bryce 6 will be re-written code. Maybe not all of it, but I personally hope so. It's just time, its been long enough. AS

Gog ( ) posted Tue, 07 February 2006 at 6:40 AM

I get the impression that there was a fair amount of code re-write in the 5.5 beta, but that not all of it was in the final config due to bug fix, at least that's my second guess as to the lack of multi-core support in 5.5.

Curious to see what these "exiting new feature" will be. As for waiting, i dont mind. Better to release a stable version than doing a Next Limit and hand people a pre-pre-alpha with 5000 critical errors. :)

yup..was just remembering the Poser 5 debacle..screaming, moaning, complaining bitterly to have it come out..then as the heat got too much, it got released too early, and they spent the next few months doing bug fixes. I'd rather they take the time and get it right, first.
sigh..another version of Blender to download. Maybe they fixed the interface up some..;)

Cleaning up the existing code is definately the best way to go... It's nice to see a company that actually realizes this. :)

Well, at least its giving me more time to practise in 5.5c......this should take another year or so! :) Just hope all my crash info helps in someway or other ;)

all kidding aside I would be happy with a faster render engine more than anything else. I mean I have bryce almost the way I want it other then that. All the other stuff funny enough we have found ways around... So it would not take much to please me.

"DAZ needs to buy Blender out" u gotta be kidding me.... "...we're all working very hard on Bryce 6 which is currently scheduled to be released later this year." Translation: "we hope to have it finished before 31st of december 2006" still, at least something's apparently happening ;)

If the new version has fast global illumination, surface replicator, better FOG control, fresnel effect, and mesh deformation, I'll be happy like a rabbit in a veggie garden.

Rayraz ( ) posted Thu, 09 February 2006 at 3:44 PM

fast global illumination..... is that invented yet? lol fresnel effect is cool, but I'd prefer a falloff shader like the one in 3dsmax ;) so u can create ur own custom falloff curves depending on things like fresnel effect, but also light/shadow, perpendicular falloff etc. very handy
