Subject: Hate the unusable archives!

When oh WHEN are the backroom boys going to get the archives working again? And don't say they ARE working, because they just aren't. How the heck am I supposed to know what year or what month of what year are there any messages located that talk about empty preset files, peggy walters site (who offeres a tutorial on organising your presets as well as free empty preset files for download) and so on - it's IMPOSSIBLE!!! I am just SO frustrated.

Hello Fran, This won't be coming back until we convert the Community over to PHP with the Marketplace. I know its frustrating but it will be back when we convert. Thanks Stacey Community Manager

"Frustrating" isn't the word I'd use. But even my three thesauri don't have enough words to describe an unusable and crippled data stream. All those informative posts might as well have been dropped into a Black Hole. :( Carolly

"All those informative posts might as well have been dropped into a Black Hole" And not just any Black Hole, but a hole sadistic enough in its mal-intent to recognize what it's got and meanwhile contentedly taunt us mere mortals as we vainly seek that which cannot be found within its bowels. We seekers of knowledge, bowing at the foot of the Holiest of Holies in the 3Dverse, seeking enlightenment within its collected compilation of CG Wisdom... Like the Underlings we are, we are...denied...as we collectively and helplessly watch the Lord Of the Margin of Profit reign supreme and hijack the attention of the vastly superior Admins who answer mostly to the Race of Consumer while the forlorn and.... Oh, screw it. Disappearing the search functionality of a site this size is just an assenine decision which goes a long way towards showing just how little those in charge of such things actually care about those who attempt to use said site. And, on the transformation to PHP: Well, what of it? It better be pretty freakin' good because according to everything I've read, everything from any and all problems with this site to nothing short of World Hunger will be solved by it.

Ah! But we can solve World Hunger, too!!! If we eat our words, there are enough words in the Archives to serve billions and billion of byte-sized sandwiches... which will quiet the rumbling stomachs... and since we continually add new posts, it is a renewable resource! :) All they have to do is step away from the doors long enough for us to take a prybar and some bolt-removers to them. I'm afraid, Evil OverLady, that by and large, a diet of the verbiage harvested here would be seriously lacking in sustenence. With sufficient imaginative ability, it might be enough to fill one's belly, and perhaps enough to satiate the pangs, but then again, one could achieve that even from something as simple as cardboard or paper. HTML is not meant for human consumption except in the most figurative of ways. "Eating your words" is a colloquialism, and English slang, the practice of which has no nutritional value whatsoever. Plus, it could cause an immediate need for hospitalization and subsequently, extreme embarassment; just think how you would explain it to your doctor.

As long as the files we were eating were .pdf and .html and .txt, and not .doc, we'd be ok. ;^)

Okay, so right now it's hateful, but what marvellous news! We're getting it all back!!! Hoorayyy!!!!! Now it's just a question of... when. (drums fingers to pass the time) Thanks for the reassurance StaceyG, much appreciated. Fran
