Subject: Importing Poser 6 animations to Vue problems

spikboi ( ) posted Mon, 13 February 2006 at 2:09 AM · edited Tue, 04 February 2025 at 4:49 AM

Hi (again) I have major problems importing Poser 6 animations into Vue. I can animate my figure and import it and the body parts move fine. When I animate hair, the hair doesn't move. I have Vue 5 Esprit, if I upgraded to Infinite would this solve the problem? Or is there something else I am doing wrong?

DO you have Mover 5? It is needed to import Poser animations into Vue.

Yes I do...I think, at least I know I installed it. It's just an import plugin no? When I import a poser animation, it asks me would I like to import the whole animation or just one frame - so I'm guessing that the plugin is working.

Guess so then. Well, can't help you more, sorry.

Thanks anyway. I'm getting reall frustrated with VUE Esprit, the lack of features compared to infinite is frustrating.

I'm not sure it will be any better with Vue Infinite. I know some people were complaining about how dynamic hair animations import into VueI.

I don't import dynamic hair very often myself. It just doesn't look the same in Vue (Infinite or Esprit).

I don't think Infinite and Esprit+Mover handle dynamic hair any differently. You might want to try the Infinite demo to see.

In Infinite, there is another Poser import option, about using quarternion interpolation or not. (don't ask me what it means!) Dunno if this is important, and whether Esprit uses it or not, but it's here, so might be of use.

Ok, perhaps using Bryce would solve this problem?

randym77 ( ) posted Tue, 14 February 2006 at 6:21 AM

Definitely not. Bryce does not support dynamic cloth or hair. DAZ has limited support for any version of Poser beyond Pro Pack. They are concentrating on their own program, DAZ|Studio, so I'm not expecting that to change much.

Carrera, maybe. Never used it myself, but over in the Poser forum, people are saying it has better Poser support than VueI, and it cheaper, too.

I just find poser far too difficult to use as an environmental tool, vue is perfect in everyway except for dynamic clothes and hair support. It is such a pity that it doesn't work. Oh well, back to the drawing board. I'll take a look at carrera.

The latest version of Mojoworld seems to import Poser dynamic hair very well - I've seen a couple of fantastic renders (no postwork). I'm not sure about full Poser animations though. I'd love to see a fix for the dynamic hair import in Vue.

The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter
