This is weird... Poser 2 (I really will upgrade sometime this century..) pulled a strange stunt on me.. I was working on a muscular character, so I turned on the muscle bump map... and it doesn't map right anymore! I haven't used one in a long time, and it was on another machine, but I reeeeeely doubt that makes much difference. I tried to re-map it using the templates, but it didn't seem to help. Not quite sure what to do now.. What happened? I mean, did Poser eat the UV coordinates or what? Anybody have a clue? :)

Well, the stomach muscles seem to show up okay... I haven't use P2 in forever, but does it have an intensity slider for the bump maps? Any chance your figure is a downloaded one with a different UV map?

No, she's directly from the install... it doesn't work right for the male figure, either. It maps okay until around the chest area, then it somehow gets scrunched. No, there's no intensity control, it's either on or off.. :) I don't know why it would work differently on different machines.. I tried it on my dad's computer, the maps do the same thing. The weird thing is that re-mapping doesn't help. I aligned everything from the chest up with the template and tried again.. it was in the right spot, but it looked.. VERY bad. It's so strange..

How about your other bump maps -- do any of them work? It's gotta be either the map, the model, or the program. If other maps work on that model, it's probably the map. If the muscle maps work on other models, it's probably the model. Since it's doing the same thing on two computers, it's probably not the program.

Yeah.. the other bump maps I've made with the template work great. It's so strange.. the map is directly from the install, and so is the figure. Theoretically, they're supposed to work together.. :) And why, when I rearrange the muscle map to fit on the template, it looks so derned terrible, is also beyond me. I don't think it's the program, although I never had this problem on my 486, go figure.. I don't know how it could be the map or the model, either, unless I somehow overwrote something I shouldn't have. It's all very bizarre. I'm including a pic of how it looks when I rearrange the bump map: http://www.crosswinds.net/new-york/~agrabah/huh2.jpg

I seem to remember having a problem with the maps too. Have you tried switching the value from 100% to -100%? Another thing I seem to remember was having to do something screwy like ROTATE it (I know that sounds silly, but it was a long time ago). Try creating a map that's just a white box with a black vertical stripe. Map it, then SAVE the figure, exit the program and restart it. I think I remember that it happened when you reloaded a previously saved image. Good luck! ===Underdog===
