Subject: Hight sensitive texture

Is it possible to make a hight sensitive texture with a pic?

draculaz ( ) posted Tue, 14 February 2006 at 5:57 PM

if you put it on the -afaik- second mat vertical mat channel, yes drac (bryce newbie after the whole 'solid while boolean rendering' fiasco)

Don't feel too bad Drac, I thought Max was going to say he'd done his knife in wings and the cheese in Bryce, LOL.

Yes, Prelude. First create a terrain, then go into terrain editor (ctrl+E) then in the editing tools panel click new and in the picture panel load your picture in both little displays and hit apply. Presto! Picture terrain!

"height sensitive texture with a pic" Do you mean take an image texture, and use it to make a material for say a mountain, and have it height sensitive like a normal terrain procedural/dte material is? AS

That's the way I took it when I read your post header. Here's a tut for blending a bitmap and procedurals so it's an "altitude-sensitive" material. http://o.ffrench.free.fr/tutorials/mixing/index.htm

Quest ( ) posted Tue, 14 February 2006 at 7:34 PM

Ooooh, I didn't think of that possibility. I took height to mean heightmap as opposed to altitude. Guess we'll have to wait and see which they meant.

Yup, that's the one. AS

That's the problem with the word height. You never know where you will wind UP.

Ouch....that one hurt.

Yeh, Danamo's got the idea. 'Altitude sensitive texture' is what I was meant. Downloading the tutorial, I'll let ya know how it goes. Thnx
