I think basically the picture says it all, but am I missing something???

Ok, since Im a newbie to poser, I thought maybe it would be easy. Yeah right! lol I started with opening V3, added Long Hair Evolution for V3, then added the Vampi costume. What threw everything off...was the pose. And as you can see, shes a bit confused herself! I didnt change any settings, just opened and added the clothes, hair and pose.

So, did I forget something? How the hell do I keep the clothes and hair on her as well as pose? Is there a process? What do I start with first?

I was gonna ask about adding new characters...but I found they appear when rendered. BUT, when I try to open !!!Lyn, !!!Sonia (found in the free stuff section of rend), or a few other characters, they ask for a file it cant find, and neither can I. Its quite frustrating.

Grrr...

Any help would be grateful!!

LS

Conform the clothing to the figure, and they'll stay with her when you pose her.

soul_survivor ( ) posted Sat, 18 February 2006 at 1:24 PM · edited Sat, 18 February 2006 at 1:28 PM

If the hair is from the Figure or Character Library, it needs to be conformed as well as the clothes.

You're using a Character for Vicky 3. Read "Notes & Requirements." You need the DAZ3D Head and Body morph packs.

if the costume is from the figure library you need to do a 'conform to' from the figure menu pulldown. if they are props then chech parenting. always apply poses after conforming clothing and make sure you apply the pose to the figure and not the clothing.

I have that problem with Kozaburo hair. I've learned to set up the figure, import the hair, then scoot it around like an arial tribble, until it's positioned correctly. I've noticed that if I change cameras, I lose the ability to position the hair (goes from x,y,z to individual parts). Then, and only then, I conform it to the figure.
Now, in his defense, I know the problem is me, and not Kozaburo's stuff..but if someone can figure out what I'm doing 'wrong' would be helpful..;)
but for the clothes, just make sure that the clothing you're using is actually made for the character. Once you have that down, you can go on to all the add-on programs and utilities that simplify this.

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

Thanks for the help, but erm.. I dont have the V3 morph :-/ And yes, I make sure all clothes are made for V3. I just need to figure out how to get the clothes to stick... ponders problem Hey! I had a hair problem too. And with the clothes - they wouldnt move...well, not completely. They seem to be anchored and its annoying. LS P.S. Does anyone know of a free morph for V3?

Ok, you need to conform the clothing to the figure. First click on your famle and see what she's called - probably figure 1. Then click on any single piece of clothing. On the top menu go to "Figures" go down to "Conform To" then select the human figure, maybe figure 1 Then hit ok. tada.

I came, I rendered, I'm still broke.

Here arte the basics. It's for Poser 5 however the same principals apply for P6. It is a large ~1MB html page.

Regarding the missing files... the characters you want to use, are created using the head/body morphs for V3, bought from DAZ (sadly, they don't come free with the figure). The InjDelta file looked for is one of the files which applies the morphs to the head. jonthecelt

Hmmm I did a (c: local disk) search for the missing files...and I came up nil for them. I cant even afford the Daz morphs, which stinks cause I discovered I need other missing files sighs That and I dont even know where to look for those missing files if I even have them. All the characters for V3 Ive got are freebies from here as well as the net. It isnt nice when I cant do what I had in mind...and when Poser nor myself cant find the wayward files... Poser freezes growls and I have to alt-ctrl-delete poser closed and start all over again. Blah. Thanks for the help all! LS

You need to "conform" the clothing/hair to the figure after applying each piece. You do that in "Figure" and pick "conform" and then pick your main figure. Here are some tutorials that can help get you started with the basics. They are for Poser 5, but it's the same in Poser 6, just that your interface might look to be a bit different. Here are some great newbie tutorials that will get you through the bare basics: http://trekkiegrrrl.dk/tut1.htm http://www.poserguide.nimprodaction.com/issues/issue2/cover.htm http://www.poserguide.nimprodaction.com/issues/issue3/cover.htm http://www.poserguide.nimprodaction.com/ http://www.canary3d.com/tutorial/3d-intro.htm http://www.ebonshire.net/tut-posb/index.php http://www.cooltuna.com/poser/poser-tutorials.html http://www.renderosity.com/tut.ez?Form.ViewPages=155&Form.sess_id=52280005&Form.sess_key=1129030101

As far as organization goes, A picture to show you the file structure of a Poser Runtime can be found here: http://www.daz3d.com/support/faq/index.php?id=94 Basically, what it boils down to in a nutshell: If you are looking for a Character or a piece of clothing/shoes, in Poser you will find them in libraries/character If you are looking for hair, you will find them in either library/character/hair OR library/hair If you are looking for character texture addons, hair textures, clothing textures, you will find them in library/poses. Sometimes on the rare occasion, a merchant will package their textures so that they go into the "Camera" folder (.cm2 files). If that is the case then you can either apply them from there, or do what I do and change the file extension to .pz2 If you are looking for props, they are located in library/props Sometimes you will find clothing and hair or shoes in library/props too, depending on whether the item is actually created and saved as a figure, or it was created and saved as a prop. A note if you have Poser 6: In Poser 6, you will sometimes find conforming clothes in the Props folder. Conforming hair in the normal Hair folder, together with "regular" hair and dynamic hair. Why they did that I don't know. But if you are working in Poser and working with content made especially with Poser 6 in mind if you don't find what you are looking for as listed above, you can check these alternative places. Figure items are "conformed" or "parented" Props are parented. If you are just starting, it's best to get started on the right foot. DO NOT just install files into the main runtime! That will only lead to frustration because you won't be able to find anything, and not all files are packaged equally and land up all over the place. Here is a link to a tutorial on using multiple runtimes. http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=9060&start=0 This thread talks about multiple runtimes too. I have a post in there about how I organize my folders. Look for "Acadia" if you want to check it out. http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=2303505 When I first started Poser, I installed everything into the main Poser 5 runtime and I couldn't find anything. I was so frustrated and gave up on Poser every other week..literally.

In order to actually do anything in Poser you need to have some objects to work on. Some popular figures to work with are: Victoria 3.0. You can get her free at this link: http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=1098 You can add hair and clothing and textures to the hair and clothing to her. You can even pose her. But if you want to change her body shape or face features, or use one of the many "Character Addons" made for her, then you will have to buy the head morphs and body morphs for her. The Base, which is free, is very limited in it's use. You can buy the head and body morphs here: http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=3008 You can also buy each morph package separately: http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=1106 http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=1100 Another popular figure to work with is Michael 3.0. You can get him FREE here: http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=1558 Again, it's just the base (like Vicky 3.0), and if you want to change his body shape or face shape or use any of the character addons for him, you will need his head and body morphs: http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=3009 Or you can buy the morph packages separately: http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=1560 http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=1561 If you have both Vicky and Michael and want to save some money on the morph packs, you can buy both sets together: http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=3010 Another popular figure is Aiko. The base for her is FREE also: http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=2866 Like Vicky and Michael, you need the morphs package to change the shape or use the Character Addons for her. You can get those here: http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=2884 If you can't afford to get the morph packs now, you can still use part of the character addons that you have...the texture part. Even changing just the skin texture with these packages gives a whole new look to the figure.
