Subject: Creating photorealistic textures

Hi, I want to create some ultra realistic MATs for my poser characters and i just need the templates and a little advice. I heard that it's seriously fiddly to get textures right and it will probably be even more so seeing as I want to be able to see the very pores of the skin.

can someone help me?

"I want to create some ultra realistic MATs" By MATS do you mean Material Pose files as found in the Pose library(s)? If so then first you need to make your textures up, THEN you use a tool like the MAT Pose Creator [link below] to make the MAT poses. http://market.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=5174 "i just need the templates" Search free stuff here for snowsultan and you'll find templates for the main characters such as V3. "I heard that it's seriously fiddly to get textures right" Not really. A lot of folks here use merchant resource kits as a base for their maps then apply shadows and makeup and tattoos over the top of those. Looking at products in the marketplace for ideas can help you as well. "to see the very pores of the skin." Thats easy enough. Use a very hi-resoultion map and bump maps in P4/Pro or consider some of the skin shading systems in P5/P6. If you want to make your own original maps, then some merchnants and free-stuffers also offer photo sets of the same model under neutral studio lighting. Then theres no hassles with matching skin tones. These are pretty usefull... http://market.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=24000

just a note from the buying public.... If you offer a texture for sale, please have the base version completely devoid of highlights, shadows and makeup. These can be added, but not removed by a user. Thank you very much. ::::: Opera :::::

just one more question, how do you create the morph? would the texture work on any model or only on a model with the texture morphs?

FS ( ) posted Fri, 24 February 2006 at 5:47 AM

This textures will be work on any characters with the same texture templates. For example:If you use the template for V3 the texture will be work on any V3 character. It is independent from the morph or character you use. You can make head- or body-morphs with the most 3d programs (True Space;Amapi;Blender;Shade.......) I make first the headmorphs. This makes the personality. The texture gives only the last kick.

If this is the case then I think I will just create the texture on the template and then twist the model to look how I want. I'm really impressed by the realism of 3d modelling today, I created a model using real woman 001 mat and sapphire fox hair in poser 6, added some lights and a back ground image and sent it to a friend telling him that she wanted a date with him, the guy fell for it hook line and sinker.

you need to set your eyes on the P5 and P6 Face Rooms! making Textures, with UV Maps, by hand is very possible, but even more difficult, especially where this is what the face room is for, it takes your photos, cuts them up stretches them out, and makes a texture for yo7ur P5 or P6 character! If thats not enough then make a few of them this way and then haul them all into photoshop, and set each to its own layer. Then you can composite to one very realistic texture. Note, the P5 Woman(Judy) has the same map as V2. To make a tex. for V3, make a V2 and use DAZ's Universal Texture Creator. Else, if you want to do this from scratch, just for a taste, all you'll need is a good(Color coded/Labled) UV Map. But if you get stuck finding one, or want to make even that from scratch use the free tool UVMapper(I think at uvmapper.com) = )
