Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 05 2:05 am)
Skull cap is used to save dynamic hair. By applying the hair to the skullcap, the hair can be applied to different figures just by applying the (saved) skullcap+hair. Since I don't use dynamic hair much ('cos the hair room is an area that baffles be completely), skullcaps are not much use to me, but anyway, that's apparently what they are for. :-)) Cheers, Diolma
Yes. You can also save it to your Poser library. That way, you put the hair on any character, any time you want.
It can also help the "look" of the hair. For example, look at the Poser 6 skullcaps (they're part of the dynamic hairstyles that come with Poser). They are colored a brownish color, to help keep the skull from showing through the hair. A properly textured skullcap could be even better.
You can usually fit skullcaps to other figures without too much difficulty. Use the scale, rotate, and translate dials to position and fit it, then parent it to the head.
There are also free skullcaps out there. PhilC has some for V3 and M3, I believe, but they are rather high-res for dynamic hair.
Try downloading Kirwyn's Genesis Hair for V3 from free stuff. It comes with a short tutorial that it a great intro to dynamic hair. And it comes with low-res skullcaps you can use for other hair if you want.

I meant to ask in my previous horribly long message, what is the use for the skull cap?
