Thanks for taking part in the previous polls! Lacrimal poll here: http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12356&Form.ShowMessage=2602770 Tongue poll here: http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12356&Form.ShowMessage=2600228 For me, the navel is often the dead giveaway of a figure being 3D or hand-painted, and with the number of midriff-baring outfits out there for the female figures, you would think we'd have gotten this little bit right by now. :) Texture artists certainly don't ignore the navel, but I wonder how many of them check their renders to see how it actually looks on a default figure. The problem appears to be that the detail gets lost in the mesh's indentation, and so many artists use careful lighting or a custom MOR to hide any oddities. I plan on making another chart showing how these examples look with the texture's included MOR character (if any), but this one shows how they look on a default V3. Two quick notes before you start voting: Although Rosana's navel looks like it missed the mark completely here, she is otherwise one of the best textures I have. With a color adjustment and a new navel, she will likely be the texture I end up applying all these bits and pieces to for my own use. Don't let that one issue discourage you from her. My personal choice here is Suelma (17) because she is the only texture I've used that darkens the navel enough to sucessfully avoid the 'plastic' look. Perhaps someone can come up with an good displacement map that will improve upon others, but I've had little luck with that or by using magnets. My Cutebelly morph/pose in Free Stuff works fairly well with Posette, but I have not been able to make a satisfactory version for V3. Thanks as always! SnowS

10 10 is best both in terms of realism and attractiveness. After that 11, and 9.

17 no question, very realistic! [IMVHO]

#17 and then #1...in that order...17 definitely is the most realistic, but I think #1 is a close runner up...

As a nurse I see belly buttons everyday at work. I can tell you that they come in all shapes and sizes and that "best" is purely subjective. With those pictured above, it's faster for me to tell you which ones DON'T look real (too smooth/plastic): 6, 7 and 14 All the others are styles of belly buttons that I've seen.

#17 Still the best most realistic V3 stomach tex out there. And it's 2 years old! I've noticed that this poll is slowly heading south in geography. Will we eventually..?..nah!

Thanks to everyone who's voted so far. Here is one more image, showing how six of these examples look with the character's matching full body morph applied. Seems odd, but only Katie and perhaps Eden2 are improved at all; Suelma, Milla, and Tawnie actually look better unmorphed in my opinion. Sorry Richardson, we're going back up to the head after this one. ;) SnowS

Well if you ever head south I want equal opportunity show/voting for both sexes. ;-) 17 for the inner and 1 for the outie

Neyjour ( ) posted Fri, 03 March 2006 at 5:10 PM

Number 17 looks the best and most realistic to me, but I also like 1 and 2 as well. :)

Where is Suelma available? I didn't find her here in the Marketplace. That's the most realistic navel I've seen for V3.

Wow, there are pretty big differences there!!! I think you're right, the belly button can be a big give away if it's 3d character. The belly button is something I don't even think about, unless it's in the wrong place (like putting M3 texture on David and such). I'll go with Elsie, #2, for being the best belly button. It's placed correctly and the shading adds realisism. bB

cindyx ( ) posted Fri, 03 March 2006 at 6:32 PM

I like #1 best. It's not extreme, kind of a middle-ground belly button.

So far, Suelma (17) has the most votes, with Eden2 (1) and Elsie (2) in second and third. I like SamTherapy's choices myself...haha, I remember when we didn't agree on anything. ;) Here's one extra example, the wet body texture of Miss April. Feel free to continue to vote on this or any of the other surveys whenever you like. Tomorrow's poll will have a lot of examples to choose from, and I'll post it in the morning before I go out. Thanks for participating! SnowS

April has an unfair advantage...#^P dropdead

miss april is sexiest 17 is most realistic (IMHO) but i prefer slitty ones rather than round ones so personnally i'd like them more closed up

kobaltkween ( ) posted Sat, 04 March 2006 at 7:00 PM

17 unmorphed, 1 morphed, 19 and 2 unmorphed, in that order.
