Hmmm. I like 5, 8 and 17.

As a nurse I see belly buttons everyday at work. I can tell you that they come in all shapes and sizes and that "best" is purely subjective. With those pictured above, it's faster for me to tell you which ones DON'T look real (too smooth/plastic): 6, 7 and 14 All the others are styles of belly buttons that I've seen.

"Where is Suelma available? I didn't find her here in the Marketplace. That's the most realistic navel I've seen for V3."
It's by StefyZZ, available from her website, ZS3D

Wow, there are pretty big differences there!!! I think you're right, the belly button can be a big give away if it's 3d character. The belly button is something I don't even think about, unless it's in the wrong place (like putting M3 texture on David and such). I'll go with Elsie, #2, for being the best belly button. It's placed correctly and the shading adds realisism. bB

Thanks for taking part in the previous polls! Lacrimal poll here: http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12356&Form.ShowMessage=2602770 Tongue poll here: http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12356&Form.ShowMessage=2600228 For me, the navel is often the dead giveaway of a figure being 3D or hand-painted, and with the number of midriff-baring outfits out there for the female figures, you would think we'd have gotten this little bit right by now. :) Texture artists certainly don't ignore the navel, but I wonder how many of them check their renders to see how it actually looks on a default figure. The problem appears to be that the detail gets lost in the mesh's indentation, and so many artists use careful lighting or a custom MOR to hide any oddities. I plan on making another chart showing how these examples look with the texture's included MOR character (if any), but this one shows how they look on a default V3. Two quick notes before you start voting: Although Rosana's navel looks like it missed the mark completely here, she is otherwise one of the best textures I have. With a color adjustment and a new navel, she will likely be the texture I end up applying all these bits and pieces to for my own use. Don't let that one issue discourage you from her. My personal choice here is Suelma (17) because she is the only texture I've used that darkens the navel enough to sucessfully avoid the 'plastic' look. Perhaps someone can come up with an good displacement map that will improve upon others, but I've had little luck with that or by using magnets. My Cutebelly morph/pose in Free Stuff works fairly well with Posette, but I have not been able to make a satisfactory version for V3. Thanks as always!
