Subject: Trek uniform request or a close match if one exists

nick_brown1967 ( ) posted Mon, 27 February 2006 at 1:21 PM · edited Sun, 22 December 2024 at 4:03 PM

Yeah i know.. Seems a lot of trek requests lately.

We have just got over what i figure to be the best enterprise episode ever done. The one called 'Mirror Darkly'
where we are not the helpers of the galaxy, helping lil old ladies across the galaxy ect ect.... but instead the ISS Enterprise is as bad as the Klingons in terms of cut throat rank climbing!!

To cut this very short. With the fantasically timed release of Vanishingpoints Starship bridge, and freebie texture release that turns it into the NX01 bridge.
What I am looking for is any uniforms that actually are close to the ones used in the mirror darkly..
The Gals had very cropped tops.

Pants are not to much of a problem. Poserworlds jogging pants and TOS boots match almost perfectly... its just that crop top style they decided to use for the episodes.. :-(

Thanks

now that's a different kettle of fish. I don't know..I suppose if you had Wings 3d or something you could pull the object of the clothes out (providing they're objects to begin with), and make morph targets, or failing that, maybe do some quick and dirty texturing work? I'm speculating here..;)
I did sort of the same pic a while back (Empress Sato), but I didn't use Trek gear (in fact, I don't remember what I used; probably Maya, and some of here wardrobe..;)

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

nick didn't see that episode so can you point to a picture or screen cap so I can get an idea of what you're looking for? mike

Not a big pic but can get the general idea. Poserworld has a outfit that looks like the original outfits, some changed textures and transmaps would work for the men's uniforms. The Woman's as well, though you'd have to find some thigh high boots and a suitable belt.

Ah I thought he was talking about a new episode of Enterprise. I know the TOS episode. shouldn't be too hard.. I have thse boots I made for Vicki 1 and 2... Just what figures are you looking for? V1/2, V3? mike

Most are the same, Phlox's is different and T'Pol wears the Fleet Uniform. It's a two part episode and during most of the second half they wear the TOS/Mirror uniforms. There was a P4 Enterprise Uniform in the free stuff, haven't checked to see if it's still around or not.

Sorry about the confusion there. I should have posted a picture. Yeah it was the ENT version, and not the TOS version I was refering to.

Attached is a view of the uniform pic. It was simular to the original uniform, but the girls wore somthing a little shorter (To boost ratings I guess)

The one for the P4 male was Corearts. But that is no longer available. The link at Animotions.com goes to a popup hell as Corearts site is no longer there. Oh well I should have grabbed it when I first saw it way back when it was first available and had no need for it, and not when I actaully wanted it for somthing ;-)

JHoagland ( ) posted Tue, 28 February 2006 at 10:32 AM

Not to change the subject, but if you're only now getting the last episodes of "Enterprise", I suggest you stop watching after the next two-parter. "In a Mirror Darkly" is probably the best "Enterprise" episode ever. The second part is good, but not as good. The next two-parter (with Peter ("Robocop") Weller) is interesting, so you should watch those two episodes. After that is the series finale "All Mediocre Things..." (just kidding- the actual title is "These are the Voyages..."). This episode is horrendous. I won't give away any spoilers (even though the episode first aired in May 2005), but let's just say that the best part of the episode is seeing Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and Troi (Marina Sirtis) in their old, familiar "Next Generation" uniforms. As a "Next Generation" episode, it gets a grade of "C-". s an "Enterprise" episode, though, it barely gets a grade of "F"... a terrible way to end Star Trek's run on TV. P.S. trav- where can we get those boots? :-) --John

John I don't have a web site yet so I tend to mail out free stuff. If you want them (and I'm doing this in another thread already) let me brush up the UV mapping making it something usable by my new standards, and I'll send them to you. In fact if Tabby wants them I'll even fit them to V3 (assuming her legs are the same as standard V3) for her. (Can you tell I'm an admirer?) mike

I've been barking up this tree for 2 months now. All I'm looking for are the one-piece coveralls, and I'll texture it myself, but I can't even find that! The best I could find was a freebie called Workman which is (I think the Dork) in coveralls. I made his head invisible and replaced it with M3. It was an inelegant workaround, but it worked (see above link). Yeah, as John says about the series finale. It was so bad, I even erased it from my HD along with a number of other stinkers like the one when T'Pol talks about the REAL first contact in 1950's Philidelphia.

@nick brown Its my corridor I made in Max and am currently rigging it for Poser. I'm hoping to make it into a product, but its becoming rather an involved process. With any luck it'll be available by mid March. If you're interested the Bridge is already available @ vanishingpoint.biz. IM me if you want the direct URL. There is also a free version of the NX-01 Enterprise around (if you don't already have it). I got it from startrekaustralia.com but that site seems to be down of late.

Thanks Bandolin.

I have the NX-01 mesh. Yeah I have noticed that the site is down also recently.
I also already have Vanishingpoints Bridge, and freebie texture addon, and the T'Pol morph done by Porthos, which is what prompted this thread ;-)

I am definatly interested when you release that corridor into the market place. Mid march :-) Will keep a look out for it.

other stinkers like the one when T'Pol talks about the REAL first contact in 1950's Philidelphia. You know, I had almost forgotten about this episode. Thanks for reminding me. :( trav- yep, I would definitely be using the boots on Tabby. She's actually based on V2... I'm one of the few people who don't use V3. :) --John

Thanks John. We have just finished the Peter Weller episode. On T4 here sundays. I wasnt going to watch that one, as I read the review of it and that series of episodes also got slated.

Uniform wise, the item I have found to be fairly close to what T'Pol was wearing is the 'Collezione2 MoxPearl' outfit by As Shanim. But the texturing I have done on it looks URGG
Also the epaulets are missing. Oh well, I guess I will have to put her in the TOS style uninform for now.

Thanks :-)

JOhn and Co. I'm just about finished modeling the STOS Mirror Universe uniform. Here's a teaser. Still need to group it and tweak it in Poser. The earings are a single object. while the armbands and bracelets are set up as right and left objects. The sash is also a seperate object. mike

My only comment would be the Star Trek uniforms had a lop-sided v-shaped plunging neckline, which made them really sexy IMHO.
