Hey pakled, I don't have any freebie models or tutorials or textures to offer, but I can give you this. Kevins Kahlua! 2 pots with 1 quart of water in each 2 ounces of freeze dried coffee 6 cups of sugar 1 pint of Everclear 1 ounce of pure vanilla extract Bring both quarts of water to a boil. Mix the coffee into one, and sugar into the other. After each one is completely dissolved let it cool down. When both mixtures are about room temperature, mix them together and add the Everclear and vanilla. This makes 40 proof (20 percent alcohol) Kahlua that is great on ice cream, in hot chocolate and in coffee (among other things).

Woot! Kahlua made with Everclear! (Barks at the moon) sounds good :) Now.. I was going through the aformentioned tut. I'm wondering if I am misunderstanding 'shadow catch'. Using Poser 5 and the instructions from the tut, (providing I didn't goof).I rendered..and the shadow went away. Is that right? Mystmaiden

Hi Mystmaiden,It does work as shown but with a few caveats.
You can use only 1 infinite light.
Adding more lights appears to "wash out" the shadow.
Spotlights do not appear to work properly.
You may use the ** Attached link:** to read the original thread on this subject.

I've noticed some odd things happening when the Focus Distance Guide is on while re-framing the scene, most obviously affecting the camera Scale parameter. The camera controls operate on camera-aligned axes, and I suspect that Camera-Z is locked and Camera-Scale changed instead. I've also seen the location of the guide within the frame change. Are there things happening similar to the lens movements possible with some cameras, changing the view without the distortion arising from a camera tilt moving film and object plane out of parallel.
Hi Antonia,
re: " I've noticed some odd things happening ..."
With Poser ??? ........... Nah! ............... Not with good ol' Poser. ;=]
As I have said many times before, with Poser, all things are possible, or should I say poseable.
Your point(s) is (are) well taken. Poser's camera has many variables but one should not expect it to operate in exactly the same fashion as in the "real" real world.
In addition, the focus guide should only be used with the Main (or Aux) camera. The other cameras appear to have some idiot-synchroncies [sic] that don't allow the Guide to work properly, or it doesn't make sense to use it, e.g. the Front camera because there is no zScale.
I will try to address your concerns if I can but they really fall outside the scope of this tut. Let me see what I can do for you.

Briefly, the Poser camera focal length and fStop settings work on the depth of focus pretty well as they do for a real camera. The important thing to remember is that we cannot see the difference between an in-focus and an out-of-focus blob until it looks big enough to our eye. "Big enough" is a matter of angles, and it depends on the distance of the picture and its size. So your snapshots can look bigger than an advertising hoarding. What I'm getting to is that Geep's sample pictures are very small, and to show the difference in focus he had to use a very small fStop. The default in Poser is fStop=2.8, and that will show blur in a screen-filling web image. For an example, I often use a focal-length setting of 85mm for my pictures of people. For that, the in-focus range is the equivalent of about 10 inches deep at f2.8, and it gets shallower as you get closer. For an idea of the way things work out, look at this PDF for the Leica Noctilux f/1.0 5cm lens, which has some real-world depth-of-field diagrams.
@ jonthecelt
That is an excellent question. Let me see if I can come up with something that will work in Poser.

@ AntoniaTiger
Your observations are exactly correct. I needed to use small values to amplify the effect for this tut so the effect would still be visible in the reduced size graphics.
Thanks for your response and input.

Ok, that's fine. I understand now. In fact, there's a useful application I picked up some time ago, called fcalc. It allows you to input the lens focal length setting and desired depth of field you want, and will tell you the f-stop settings required. Of course, it's designed for normal cameras rather than Poser settings: I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't being completely stupid in trying to use it for my more digital creations. jonthecelt
Hey, watch it there! There are a lot of us in the "attempting completely stupid things in making digital creations" club.

Oops, I blew it. It was gonna be a surprise announcement at your CD Release Party. I guess that's why they voted me as president.

President ???
Oh, I thought you said precedent.
Nevermind.

P.S. Oops, you blew it.
There was gonna be a surprize party for the release of the CD.
Now I'm not sure I want to let go of it.
