from the non-technical point of view, I consider a joint bad when it breaks the mesh or severely distorts it in an unnatural way when you rotate or translate to any position with "set limits on" Now, it is possible to move an arm or collar, for instance, to an un natural position with "set limits on" so really, it depends on eyeing normal bending. There is another issue: if the bones distort the mesh in an un natural way when the bones are at normal standing position! The most infamous case for that is the inward-curving upper arm, and the shoulder pads that are seen on all unimesh and on Jessie. It is still there on James, but less so. The defaul Apollo has the shoulder pads, but you can dial them away, unlike on other models. Bobasaur, I think bad joints are any that make the cage look unnatural at rest, alow movement that looks unnatural, or break the mesh. ::::: Opera :::::

I dunno exactly -- my left knee was giving me a little pain a couple of days ago.
But in order to analyze your symptoms precisely: I'd say that you should go see your doctor. Seek professional help.

BTW - I think that it's shameful the way that everyone has been joking around in this thread......after all, this poor man is clearly suffering & in pain.Here's a helpful link. They can tell you all about the symptoms of a bad joint there.

He obviously thought that you were a doctor. No wonder the poor man was upset with you. A bad joint is nothing to make fun of like that.
Almost all of the Poser figures that I've used suffer from poor overall rigging (in the case of Daz unimesh, poor topology too).
Apollo Max seems to be the first Poser character that truly impresses me with how well it was rigged, and how it's joints affected the mesh at critical locations. There are a few others too, but this one in particular seems to set a standard.

I've never messed with joint parameters, although I've read through Dr. Geeps tutorials on them. I know what a bent srinking straw elbow or knee looks like. However, what are other signs that a joint isn't bending properly? Are there any examples of what poor joints look like, something I can refer to so that as i work I can say - "oh. That's a bad joint. I need to tweak it." I have the resources on how to change them. I want to better recognize when to change them.
