Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 14 12:36 pm)
I just got Poser 6, and it doesn't matter what bells and whistles that Poser 7 has, I won't be getting it. I don't see a need to upgrade a program each time a new version comes out.

Who is Art?
Does he know there is a button with his name on it?
Does the button really work?
What does it do?
What does it do if you double-click it?
What if you only right-click it?
Does it respond to the scroll wheel?
Is this two many questions? ;=]
Remember ... "With Poser, all things are possible, and poseable!"
cheers,

I luv 6!!!!! Started off with P4/PP, graduated to P5 and now have 6 - more cash than sense you may say (or Nay Say Guy may not say, lol)
My aspiration: to make a decent Poser Render I'm an Oldie, a goldie, but not a miracle worker :-)
Acadia is right in certain respects about staying with Poser 6 and not buying Poser 7 when it comes out but consider this, I don't know too much about E-Frontier's finances but it seems to me that what with programmers and staff to pay etc. How do they stay in business and continue giving us support, making bug fixes, adding new features and keep Poser alive unless customers buy their upgrades and their products? PXP
well, im just guessing here but if your the kinda person that is just now upgrading to poser 6 then chances are your not the type to jump on the new version when it comes out... so whats the big deal? (not aimed at anyone specificly) besides....you think EF is turining them over too fast you should see what Autodesk is doing with AutoCAD.... 12months between releases.

12 Autodesk months. they are more consistant than poser months and precise to 32 decimal places.

I thought eF said it would be closer to the end of the year. If so, that would make it close to 2 years between releases. For those of use that bought P6 when it first came out, seems reasonable to me to upgrade to P7. Plus it is usually a better upgrade price to buy early. Casette wrote. "Ridiculous. I don't believe EF will release a Poser7 until a SR3 or 4." Don't hold your breath on it. They might and that would be a bonus.
Yes, it's nice, but it's all speculation and rumor. At least people are admitting that instead of acting like their desires and expectations have actually been promised by e-F, as has happened in the past. Seems to me that if you'd like some info regarding release schedule or imagined P6 service releases, one would do best to contact e-F directly. If they aren't willing to say anything, then speculation here is strictly that. Just bear in mind that if you believe or want something, that doesn't mean that e-F said they'd deliver it. No matter what Poser 7 delivers, there will be those who whine to high heaven that they didn't get the features or fixes that they talked themselves into believing were forthcoming. :-)

LOL
Not to mention the die-hard P4/PP users are going to insist how much better P4/PP is, really, how much more stable and better and how P7 just sucks, and P4/PP is much better, because it doesn't support crosstalk and...and...and...and...
Did I mention that P4/PP is better, and the best thing since sliced bread?

I'll go order the cheese now, hm? So we have it ready to serve with the whine. :)
I went from P4 to PP to P5 to P6. I will go to P7, just like I've gone from Photoshop 3 to 4 to 5 to 6 to CS to CS2.
There are some programs where moving with the times is not such a bad thing, and no matter what nay-sayers say... P6 was worth every penny.
And I've never really had major problems with P5 after SR1, either. (I guess I was lucky.) BTW -I'm not dissing those who are more comfortable with P4/PP. There are programs I've downgraded because I didn't like the new versions at all and where I'm more comfortable with the older version. It's just the "P4/PP is better" litany I often see is... getting old. :) And if the Standard CL Year is anything like a "Moment" on the phone with Continental Airlines... then we won't see P7 before the year 2050 anyway. ;-) Silke Message edited on: 03/17/2006 19:51

No clue on the release date but I'd like to see a updated version of it rebuilt from the ground up to take advantage of dual cores etc.. I bought version 2 when it came out then let that sit for years, finally upgraded to 4 probably right before 5 came out then just last month finally got around to getting 6. To me it still feels like version 2 so thats why I said I hope they rebuild it, not just slap new features into the same UI. It's dated and sluggish and still relies upon the big icons and subfolders instead of a decent straight forward menu system thats sortable/moveable.
I,ve been reading a piece about Vista, and its frightening what hardware it'll need. But Microsoft have already annoucned the end-date for XP support, no more security bugfixes. So do I go for 32-bit Vista, hopefully compatible with Poser 6, and will Poser 7 handle be able to exploit a 64-bit OS? Vista will be insanely cheap if you buy it with a new PC, and horribly expensive otherwise. Right now, even if I had the cash, it looks dumb to buy an XP machine. I think I'll wait for stable 64-bit Poser. This is a hobby for me, and Poser 6 will be enough for what I want to do.
Microsoft have already annoucned the end-date for XP support when is that?

two years after the release of the next version.... Works for me.

So there's this couple at the Zoo throwing peanuts to the monkeys. This one monkey picks up the peanut, shoves it up his back-end, retrieves and eats it.
The lady is so put off by this that she summons a Zoo keeper and tells him "That is the STUPIDEST monkey I've ever seen". She then procedes to tell him why.
He replies: "No lady, That is the SMARTEST monkey you've ever seen. Last week he ate a peach and couldn't pass the pitt. Now he checks everything before he eats it". :)
I'm not saying that Microsoft is smart. I'm saying that Bill Gates is a monkey. LOL
