Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 09 3:46 am)
I'm taking a stab in the dark here, because ou didn't say how you came about to be opening Poser. Did you double click on someones PZ3 file, which is associated with poser, thus opens Poser when double clicked? If so, this PZ3 may have a super huge window for the scene. To top that off, maybe the PZ3 referred to OBJ's you don't have, or have in a different folder. If all of the above is the case, then open Poser normally, then load the PZ3 through it and see what happens. If it doesn't show up again, leaving no scene window, then open up the PZ3 in a txt editor and look for errors (IF you're familiar with the interiors of a PZ3 that is...) There is also a utility called PZ3toCR2. Use it, changin the PZ3 to a CR2 file and try opening it in Poser that way.
I was working on a file that I hadn't worked with in quite a while. After rendering it, I went to change something and got the first "resizing window" error msg. So I closed it, opened Poser. Same thing. So I set the Preferences to Factory State. Same thing. So I restarted the computer. No effect. Same thing. The window size for the PZ3 I was working on was pretty standard - 640x480 or so. Nothing drastic. The OBJ-in-a-different-folder might be a reason. But it remains in this state even when I try to open a new scene or an existing one. It's all very odd. I have too much to just nuke Poser and reinstall.
You should be able to change the window size to something appropriate in the window menu. Then just save this new arrangement as your default prefs setup. I get this all the time if I open a scene file with a rather large render window. I really wish Poser would let you create a render window larger than the screen. Its a real pain sometimes.
I was going to say just open the edit preferences save to factory settings then close poser and re-open it...that usually works for me, but what I do is get the window so that I can't grab it and/or make it smaller it is just out of reach....I trashed my sledgehammer long time ago so I would not get tempted....I only have a feather duster to wack my computer with....:-)
