I've never seen or heard of this program before, so I'll advertise for them. trying it out now, but the long and short is you can build models with "bubbles" then it generates a mesh of only the exterior. Exports to many formats after you register ($39 us) website has a few example models that you can download and use as you like.

Oh, thanks for reminding me of that one. I d/lded it and just had so much fun with it. The guy that makes Softy gives wonderful support to folks who try his product. I asked a question and he wrote back in person, in detail. I liked that. Another one along those lines is Marble Clay. I am attaching a link to that as well....It is FREEWARE, but does use the organics. In FACT...lol...gonna try and do some jewelry props with that tonight. Here's a link. Thanks for reminding me of Softy.

yeah I'm messing with softy now, unfortuneatly I am currently broke, but once I've paid a few bills I'll be getting this one.

The link I sent you was a free one. Many similarities to softy.

shadowcat ( ) posted Thu, 29 March 2001 at 7:22 PM

Yeah I got it, but it seems a little complicated. I'll give it more of a workout soon.

This program is AWESOME!!!!! I modeled the Ultimate Dragon using Organica, but I had to spend days "cleaning" the mesh because it had little "sliver" like faces that disrupted the smoothing. Apparently this is a problem with most metaball modellers. Even at lower mesh resolutions, the surface still looks clean. Check out this screen shot at only 11,000 faces. This program has my thumbs up!

This is indeed a very cool tool ;-) Thanks for the pointer shadowcat !

Here`s one of the examples meshes once imported into Poser, with a simple texture map.

Nice work konan. Would it be possible to post a Smooth Lined render of that head?
Thanks.

i wonder it might be the MetaReyes from spain. Q1 : when I hit generate mesh, only small partial of metaball can be previewed. Q2 : it seems hard to switch between views.

poserpro ( ) posted Fri, 30 March 2001 at 5:42 PM

oops, right click to select and switch between view.

I didn't model the head myself. I just downloaded from their site.

artnik ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 2:43 AM

I tried the Marbleclay link. The download link on the site seems to be broken.

shadowcat ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 3:07 AM

Artnik: I was able to download from the marble clay link just fine PhilC: you can download the samples from Sifty3D in a number of formats: .sft(softy version), .mpov, .lwo, .3ds, .c4d, & .cob (I kinda liked the cartoon dragon) if you choose .3ds & of standard size 15 works ok, cuz they import in kinda big.

shadowcat ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 3:24 AM

Ouch, organica cost that much and you had that much trouble with it. Softy3D Is going to cost me less than I paid for either vicki or Mike (And I bought them on sale) Oh and another cool thing about softy is that you can give it a though testing before you register & SAVE THINGS THAT YOU MAKE in .sft format. put together a bunch of stuff first and then register when you are ready to export them.

BlueRain ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 9:48 AM

Looks like a cracked version of Organica to me.

artnik ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2001 at 1:35 PM

I made another trip to the site to double-check. I realized I was using the wrong linkage. I found the right one, and it D/L'd successfully. The site's a bit confusing. I assumed where it said download was the link, it wasn't. <:o
