Subject: Miki's shoes don't conform correctly!!

RAMWorks ( ) posted Mon, 27 March 2006 at 9:50 PM · edited Sun, 22 December 2024 at 2:54 PM

Hi all, I just got Miki's Clothing Pack 2 from idler and it's nice enough but the shoes do NOT conform correctly. They load up with the toes of the shoes sticking straight up so that has to be adjusted and then trying to get them to fit the foot is practically a lost cause. I work primarily in DAZ Studio! Anyone know of a fix to get them working in Studio correctly?? Probably some small code thing but I have no clue. Thanks much Richard ;-)~

Hi Richard, I don't think that I have that particular outfit, but try turning off IK for the shoes, and re-zero. I'm using Poser 6, so I don't know if that is possible in DAZ|Studio??? For some reason, IK likes to sneak into CR2 files; that happened with some of my creations. If all else fails, you can hack the CR2 file, and remove the IK statements- only as a last resort. One more thing, is there a foot pose to adjust the feet to the shoes, or the shoes to the feet? -Starkdog

No, but there is a pose that puts the feet into a high heel pose. Limits must be off (which they are set to Off by default). I created a work around that works. I created a new .cr2 of Miki wearing the shoes in Poser 6 and then opened it up in DAZ Studio and despite having a perfect fit in Poser 6 they were back to having the toes of the shoes shooting straight up but the fit to the foot was almost spot on. So I just did the adjustments in DAZ Studio and then saved that version as a native DAZ file. I really like the pumps but boy you really know sometimes when someone's not testing in D|S. It'd be nice if folks just created PPP versions which work 99.9% of the time in D|S. Oh well, it's solved. Thanks for the suggestions! :-) If anyones interested in the DAZ Studio settings for the shoes, here they are: Make sure and apply the Foot Pose for Miki found in the Clothing Pack for Miki in the Pose folder and then adjust: rFoot: bend: -0.50, side-side: -9.50, twist: -3.60 rToe: bend: 52.00, side-side: 0.00, twist: 0.00 lFoot: bend: -0.50, side-side: 9.50, twist: 3.60 lToe: bend: 52.00, side-side: 0.00, twist: 0.00 Save as a native DAZ file so you don't have to go through that each time you want to use the shoes! Hi Richard, I'm glad that I was kinda able to help. I haven't used DAZ|Studio since it was in beta a year ago. When you mention "native DAZ file", does that mean that pose files are different structure/ filetypes, or something completely different? Just out of curiousity, I was looking at the FBX plugin for Studio. It seems that this might be a cost-effective way to merge Poser content with other apps, as Autodesk is de-commissioning MotionBuilder standard. I'm just wondering if there is a "crosstalk" between Poser6 and DAZ pose files. Some new poses for V3 don't work well in Poser, so I am assuming that Studio might have a different rigging setup. -Starkdog

DAZ Studio does have it's own file formats (.daz, .ds and .dsb). The .daz file format is exclusive for saving full scenes. DAZ Studio now supports all sorts of plugins. Primitives (free), Hand Grip, PoseFormatExporter (just a figure at time from what I can figure out), PowerPose (IK), DFormer (Magnets), Group Parameters (needs work), CreateNULL figure (used to parent lights and cameras to to shift quickly in a scene without having to move each light if you move the figure(s) and there are others but these are the ones I have. Open sourced code is getting close to release to open up more options for DAZ Studio which I'm sure Python, more lighting options and other goodies will be coming soon. It's been a couple months now since it's last update and I'm hoping the next update will include more goodies to further extend the surface tab (like Math nodes, which it really needs). I like that you can select many parts or surfaces at the same time in Studio. You can't do that in Poser. I like that searching for needed things in DAZ Studio is faster and more elegant than all the double clicking to get to each separate runtime. It really slows down one's pace when trying to get things done in a timely fashion. I also notice that injecting morphs in the Mil characters is just so damned time consuming. I've left the program loading morphs for like 1/2 hour at a time. It's quite maddening at times! So that's that for me. Can't beat what one can do with the rendering engine in Poser 6, I'll give it that but all the other above is just not worth the hassle! So it's DAZ Studio and post work in PS-CS! :-) All the best Richard ;-)~

Just know it's limitations and you won't be very disappointed! If you expect a clone of Poser then you will be!! All the best Richard ;-)~
