Hi All I have just got a new model in .max format which poser and Vue cannot import so I used 3dmax to convert the file and when I import it several parts of the model have moved out of place plus the jpeg textures that were with the .max model have not been stored with the file Am I wasting my time with .3ds files or am I doing something wrong

Regards

Keith

You are better to export from max as a wavefront object because the newer 3ds format doesnt work with a lot of 3d programs (not just poser). I usually export from max as vrml format because it keeps the mapping but if you dont have a program to convert the vrml type then you should use wavefront.

Plus I tried exporting as a VRML but the program VUE didn't like that either

Did you import the wavefront object with weld vertices selected? That might fix the smoothing problem.
