Subject: Color change when going into P6 Material Room

This an issue that's been bugging me for a while: the Material Room changes the color of my character! Here's the situation: I've colored my character the way I like. I saved the character, etc. The images on the left show how the character looks in the preview window (top) and when rendered (bottom). However, whenever I go to the Material Room, the coloring becomes darker. (See the images on the right.) Since the "SkinHead" is the first material in list, this material becomes re-colored whenever the figure is selected and I click on the tab for the Material Room. At first, I thought this was a glitch in the OpenGL preview, but it's not- Poser actually recolors the surface material and then renders it with the darker color. I saved this new coloring back to the Library as a Material Collection file. I then opened this file in a text editor and compared the information to the original MAT pose... and the information is exactly the same... except for the shader nodes which are added as part of the material collection. Has anyone else encountered this issue? I can easily reset the coloring by re-applying a MAT pose, but this becomes a major annoyance if I want to recolor the eyes or lips. --John

That is so odd. I have never seen that happen. Could it be jumping from P4 mat to P6 mat by default. Are you starting with a P6 MAT? Only thing I can think of.

The coloring was originally created in P4 and then I saved the character as a scene file. When I open the scene file in Poser 6, the character renders correctly. The color only changes when I go into the Material Room and select the character (by accident or on purpose). If I select another figure (such as the clothing), go into the Material Room, and recolor the clothing, the character's materials remain correct. --John

I beleive it is the saved P4 MAT that is the problem. When you enter the Material room, it has to convert the avaiable information to nodes. I guess that is what is causing your trouble. Just save a corrected P6 material version.
