Subject: Hair Help

I imported a figure with dynamic hair into Carrara using transposer, and I can't change the texture of the hair? I should be able to... besides the fact the texture on the hair didn't import... otherwise I wouldn't have to change it.. wondering if anyone has any insights. TIA! Christina

When I import a figure with dynamic hair it comes in with approximately the right colour. The colour will never be absolutely the same as in Poser because the hair texture is procedural and these sorts of textures do not transfer well between programs because they have different shader systems. However, like you, I cannot find any way to adjust the texture in Carrara, the shader for the hair bears no resemblance to the hair and altering settings seems to have no effect.

Found it!!!! Double click on the hair section in the master objects and a window pops up for the textures.

After some more experiments I've found that the shininess and highlights settings of 20% are too high and make the hair look much lighter. They need to be turned down to almost zero. This could be the reason for you thinking that the hair texture did not load as even black hair looks blonde with these settings.

Thanks I was out of town for the weekend. I will work on this tomorrow. Really appreciate the help. The hair I imported was red, but came in black... so maybe this will help. Thanks again. Christina
