Is there any preparation required for exporting Poser figures (PZ3's)as a 3ds or OBJ? Cheers

depends on what you have in mind. Are you going to use them in other programs? alter the model, etc? The main thing I run into is making sure I can find the textures when I reach the destination of said file. Let us know a little more, and maybe we'll be more help..;)

Exporting as .3ds only works when your scene contains less than 64k polygons - in other words, almost never. Exporting as .obj - you probably want to render in another application. The most painful aspect is collecting the textures from the various texture folders, although Poser 6 comes with a neat Python script that'll do the job for you.

I have an animated P4 figure saved as a PZ3..For some reason it will not import into Vue5I yet V3 and M3 and other figures do! It is an eve 4 figure with a texture.I saved both as a 3ds and an obj and I ended up with dozens of obj's and 3ds's of each object. Can they some how be all grouped together as one figure? Cheers

I have a couple of thoughts, not sure if any of it is relevant.

Are you trying to import the animation? If so, you need to put the pz3 (or a copy) in your actual Poser folder (for me: c/Program Files/Curious Labs/Poser 5). When you import, it will ask if you want to bring it in as a single mesh or in parts?

Sometimes I export a figure as on obj to import to Vue (I'm using P5 and V4Pro), and I deselect the "Universe" box (I think that's what it's named... the top box) in Poser and then select just the things I want to export. But that's worked pretty much no problem.

Above you're showing an "unsupported jpeg" error, which I only get on certain jpegs -- no idea why -- but usually can be fixed by closing and restarting Vue (damn memory leak).

Those are some of the things I stumbled around trying to work out...
