With the camera selected in the world browser, click on the "target icon" in the object properties tab. Now link the camera to your object, and click on the little camera icon. Set the % blur you want. You'll notice that a box has been added to the viewports. this box represents the focal point of the camera. Change it by changing the focus parameter in your camera's properties tab, otr move the camera around in the viewports to point more precisely to your object. And don't forget to enable "depth of field" in the render settings, if you don't use any of the preset render settings. Render time will rocket sky high, and if you use Esprit or Easel, you'll notice a lot of noise aptterns. You need a lot ( and I mean a lot) of AA to get rid of the noise.

There is a very good plug-in for Photoshop/Coreldraw etc. There was a link in the backroom but I think the URL has just changed. I get excellent results using a Vue generated depth map. Cuts down on extreme rendertimes! This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience. Our own cookies make user accounts and other features possible. How do you set up DOF so that a selected item is in focus and the rest of the scene blurs off?
