THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Internet extremely slow for me today

AgentSmith ( ) posted Fri, 07 April 2006 at 8:16 PM · edited Sat, 15 February 2025 at 2:53 PM

Comcast must be having problems. I'm getting an average of 5-10 minutes to bring up ANY single webpage, from ANY website (not just Renderosity) This started yesterday...;o I'll keep checking back. My presence will be sparse today until my internet clears up. Sorry. AS

When I come here, that is exactly what it is like...this forum and everything attached to it, moves slower than molasses on a 100 degree day in Texas. I think I shall go play with bryce...and use Daz, which gives me black renders and maybe upload the snake into poser...which will no doubt cause my PSP to freeze, then I will have to reboot, in the meantime, Comcast is conspiring against me and cutting cables all over town just to piss me off. Ooooh, Im miserable. eh? :tongue1:

Slow for me to Agent Elrond. It took me nearly 45 min to download the python from DAZ (17 megs) Usually this would take less than a minute. Tom

It seems to be patchy. Daz python got a download rate of 25kbs, went to another site to d/l something and got my normal around 100kbs. Strange. :bored:

That happened to me once. After typing two days I discovered that The IBM Selectric was a typewriter, not a brand of computer :m_confused2: Knology cable is fast as ever. We feed directly into the Sprint trunk line about two miles from here. A plane crash did knock me out last year for about two days though.

My internet would have to quadruple in speed to even get to slow. I think stopped is a better term. I can take the 30 steps to the kitchen, make a coffee, come back, sit down, and half drink it, while waiting for a page to come up.

i know what is the problem with the black renders on Daz. You need to go into Render settings and not use the OpenGL render. In the General tab of the render seetings slide the speed fully over to the right then in the Advance tab make sure the "Use OpenGL Shader(GLSL) is set on 8, then have the "Use Software - 3DeLight" selected. I had the same problem a few months back ans was told to use those settings.

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

I had the same problem on Daz with a couple of files. Went to another site and was getting 30mb files at 125kb/sec.

Okay, will try that, but most of the black I encountered so far was this....pulling the stuff into bryce...halfway through, everything turned black. I wanted to use some of those props from the v3 fairy stuff that comes with daz...and some others...as I said...turned black, its like bryce has a hard time reading the materials from poser..

It was my Cable company (Comcast). Or, still is. My speeds are really sketchy, still. And, that is for ANY site in the workd for me, not just Renderosity. But, for now its working, lol. AS
