Subject: Can vob files be converted for use in other programs

I have Vue 5 and I would like to use some of my vue 5 objects (vob) files in other programs. I know Vue 5 I can export other formats but I can't afford the upgrade price. Is there a simple (cheap) conversion program that can do this? I have Carrara and it can import a number of different formats. Thanks!

I'm not aware of any conversion programs for vob files. Vue 5 Infinite is the only option, and even then not all vob files will export. It depends on the creator of the vob file and whether or not they chose to allow export when they created the file.

Your only chance is to try exporting to .3ds or .obj format from inside Vue - I'm not aware of anything else that would work.

Only Vie4Pro and Infinite have the export option, and as h20dog said, some vobs won't export because their creator forbid export.

Thanks everyone. I didn't think of Vue4Pro. I have that and will use it. I primarly want some of my old work and the landscapes to transfer to Carrara 5 Pro. I am not too good with the terranes in carrara yet. Seems kind of strange to go backward tho. Carrara is a better product for my needs and handles imports and exports very well including all poser files even props and cr2 files. I won't upgrade Vue.

If you want to export your terrains, you don't need Vue 4 Pro, you can do it in 5 Esprit, if they are not procedurals. In the terrain editor, just click export terrain, and choose your format. If you want to export objects, then you'll need V4Pro.
