Three days work. Still not happy with the eyes. Need a good asian eye morph. Comments please? Liz Pope Dreamspinner Inc.

Looking pretty good Liz ... The eyebrows kind of bug me (Different color and kind of a little too furry) and there is a little left over bottom lip on the top lip but looks good.

I've always thought of elves as having very delicate, yet chiseled features. Good job with the textures though. They look great! Eyelashes are so dark they look out of place, IMHO.

LeBurns ( ) posted Tue, 03 April 2001 at 3:42 PM

I always like to use the 'rotate eyes' morph to give them the slanted look, not so much asian, but something different (non-human). The eyelashes do stick out and I would have bigger ears. Still looks a little to much like a human with pointed ears. But that's just my picture of what an elf looks like, everyone has they're own ideas on that.

LeBurns, where do you get the rotate eyes morph? Would really like to try that. I'm Verdie Ingram, Liz's sister and I'm thrilled with what she has done so far. Does seem to need minor changes, like she can change the eye lash color to brown instead of black and does need to slightly fix his mouth (which is slightly open), but mainly needs help on those eye brows. Does any one know of a morph to curve the eye brows instead of having them run straight across? Like maybe could Ghostofmacbeth make her one?? HINT Of course The Vulcan eye brow slant might be interesting, but she can't find one for the male, only for the female. Please HELP US OUT FOLKS!! Thank you all for your very helpful comments thus far! Verdie Ingram of Dreamspinner

Great features! I love the skin texture! How did you get it mottled? I also like the eyebrows, myself, because it lends masculenity in a being that can otherwise turn feminine fast. I agree about the lips, though. They do not line up with the model and are a tad too pink. It almost looks like he has lipstick on (see above comment on pansy elves). As for the eyelashes... I would shade them the same color as the hair or the eyebrows, and more irregular. Look at your own lashes in the mirror. Also, try to make them a little thinner (i.e. skinnier, not less hair). This is a poor illustration, but see attached picture for what I mean. This image was made on a 2048 x 2048 canvas that allowed me to make really skinny lashes. Although it took up 6 meg in its original Photoshop format, once it was saved to a .jpg it came way down to about 129k and rendered rather nicely.

Male Elf: How DID YOU GET THE CURVED EYE BROWS!!!! Liz really needs that!! Or is that a P4 Fem? Thanks for any help, Verdie Ingram of Dreamspinner, and Liz's sister

Gotta look and I lost my hard drive, well the main poser one, so I am not sure what I have but will look when I get a chance in the next day or two.

Dreamspinner ( ) posted Tue, 03 April 2001 at 8:38 PM

Lost your hard drive? How did you do that?! Liz

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Tue, 03 April 2001 at 8:47 PM

It just up and garbled itself one day ... Not fun

Dreamspinner ( ) posted Tue, 03 April 2001 at 8:50 PM

No, not fun at all!!!!! Not retrievable? You poor thing! Liz

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Tue, 03 April 2001 at 9:39 PM

I tried and tried and tried ...I backed up the Poser folder in October I think it was. I just have to catch all the stuff I added since then. I also have to search my stuff to make sure I lost nothing I bought. Think I have the original downloads for most of it at least. Not fun though.

Is this better? Liz

LeBurns ( ) posted Wed, 04 April 2001 at 7:02 AM

Wow, big improvement. I found my rotate eyes morph. It's for the P4 female however. The readme says it's from ANTON KISIEL at AKISIEL@IBM.NET. You may want to check there. I have no idea where I downloaded it from. The file I have is named P4FemFaceMorphs.zip

L&A ( ) posted Wed, 04 April 2001 at 1:22 PM

All of you, How D...M do you do these cool eyebrow and lashes. Those with poser texture don't work. Could you show me or tell me where I can get a tutorial.

CharlieBrown ( ) posted Wed, 04 April 2001 at 2:18 PM

It's a great texture and figure. Doesn't match how I've always viewed elves (features should be longer and finer - face is too broad IMO), but it's good work regardless.

Dreamspinner ( ) posted Wed, 04 April 2001 at 10:42 PM

He's not quite my view of an elf either but he's about the best I can get out of P4 Male. Compair my picture to a render of the regular P4 Dork and it's a major difference in facial features. I can keep fiddling but at this point I'm afraid I could screw his face up completely. What I've got here is at least far fairer looking than regular dork. Liz

Lyrra ( ) posted Thu, 05 April 2001 at 2:57 AM

Liz, Looks wonderful. :) Those eyes are crystalline blue fire - but he needs nonclumping mascara :) He looks like my fairy boy Naion's cousin or something :) Lyrra (I'm baaack!)

CharlieBrown ( ) posted Thu, 05 April 2001 at 10:22 AM

{What I've got here is at least far fairer looking than regular dork.} Definitely. Actually, he makes me think of the actor who played Ra in "Stargate"; the one who looked like he walked a line between being male and female... Have you tried playing with magnets to re-sculpt the basic shape of the head? It's not for the faint of heart, but you can achieve some amazing results with them...

Dreamspinner ( ) posted Thu, 05 April 2001 at 12:34 PM

I hadn't thought of that resemblence, Charlie! No, I'm rather clumsey with the magnet function. I've used it for hair models a couple of times but not been brave enough to tackle a poser figure with them. Liz

CharlieBrown ( ) posted Thu, 05 April 2001 at 12:40 PM

RE: Magnets - me either, in general... :-) But I have seen some people do amazing things with the little buggers...

Dreamspinner ( ) posted Thu, 05 April 2001 at 12:43 PM

Guess I just need to get brave? I've read somewhere to make it work properly I need to use the grouping tool, other than that....I'm kinda lost. Thinking now in clothing mode for above elf. Perhaps a texture for the Muscle shirt that has chain mail of some sort and a suede leather texture I have for the Plus4s pants..... Liz

But that actually means you need too figure out the grouping tool .. which is worse than magnets in my book :) I am sorry I haven't gotten to the morph .. still looking

Lyrra ( ) posted Thu, 05 April 2001 at 4:18 PM

Traveler demystified magnets nicely (tutorial on his page) and nowe I use 'em all the time. They're fiddly but once you get the 1-2-3 adjustment thing down you're cool. The grouping tools still give me fits - but sometimes there's no other way to isolate effects. When I was working on elfquest elves I needed bigger ears - so I grouped all the polys for the ears and then applied the magnet just to them. I got stuck on the scary eyeball tricks though. and then got distracted with other stuff. I will get back to Cutter at some point. :)
