Subject: How to fix bumpmaps in P6? (P6 newbie : )

MaskEdit ( ) posted Tue, 25 April 2006 at 1:00 PM · edited Thu, 26 December 2024 at 10:31 AM

HI, I cannot figure out how to handle bumpmaps (.jpg's) in P6. All the package's that I used in P4 PP wouldn't load the bump maps in P6 in the right way. I can fix that by connecting the nodes in the material room but I guess there must be an easier way to handle this. I searched for this matter in the forum and although bumpmaps seams quit an issue, I couldn't find a proper solution. Hopefully someone can bring me some light in this matter. Thanks 😕

I believe this is a known issue and will hopefully be fixed in the next service release!

I don't know of a work around, I do it manually in the material room when I need to which isn't that often to be honest!

maybe someone else has a different method that they'll share!

Injustice will be avenged.

Try MAT Pose Edit available here,  http://koti.mbnet.fi/ilaripih/MPEHome/

It has a P4toP5  batch converter that writes a MAT that has the bump map connected to the bump node instead of the gradient node. It's free too :)

Thanks raven, dizzi, fixer. You were a big help. I'll manage now. Cheers!

I also did a P4 to P6 converter. It's for WinXp with Framework 1.1 installed. I'm actually in a process of upgrading the application. It will be soon available, but you will need the Framework 2.0.

My application has a lot of other features, but the main problem i had with MAT Pose Edit is the way it manage the bump value. Also, my app has more options and automatically create thumbnails (if a png thumbnail exist).
