I am considering to upgrade it. Usually how long does Adobe release a new version? How many year?

nattarious ( ) posted Mon, 01 May 2006 at 1:40 PM

Hello Marcus..

In fact Adobe is not like many other companies tho.. There will be a new version comming out soon. But when no one knows.. And it is not even mentioned on their official website. But ususally the new Adobe products releases is between 6 months and 1 and half year. So hopefully they will release it very soon.

I heared from some developers that it could be in this comming July. so i hope its true.

And i will upgrade as well :) Thanks for the thread and best regards

JOE

btw: which version are you using now!

CS 3 is supposed to be out in late 2006 or early 2007.

MarcusW ( ) posted Mon, 01 May 2006 at 11:20 PM

Thank you! I think I will wait until CS3 release. I use 7 .Do you think CS2 is much better than 7?

nattarious ( ) posted Mon, 01 May 2006 at 11:55 PM

It is way too much better then 7.. lets say 110%..

But in only one case.. If your computer is so powerful to handle it.. I guess you understand what i mean.. if you want more info please ask. Thanks

Hello to everyone, hello Natarious

I'm new here, just register today and i'm afraid i'm novice to everything. Just need from you some helps about my computer configuration. Presently I have a Pentium3  with 512MB of Ram and i often use Photoshop 7 everyday  to work on my pictures and a little of artwork. It runs like a turtle but i can deal with it. I plan very soon to upgrade to Photoshop CS2 and people around me said i can throw my Pentium 3 out of the window and get the latest Pentium4 with at least 1GB of Ram + graphic card etc..  Well, could you advise me what to do? I'm not rich but I can rob the nearest bank . Thank you!

I checked the release date of CS2. It has been a year!  Now I don't think it is the right time to upgrade it. Thank you for your reply!

Welcome to the club **imustrelax..

**First of all how nice to see many new members around.. now about your P3 machine with the 512MB of rams.. It depends on what P3 machine you have, your photoshop 7 runs..

For example don't tell me you want to run it on a a P3 400Mhz for example.. i prefere you u can use the 5.5 Version of adobe photoshop.. But if your machine is one of the latest P3's like the 733,800,900 and or 933Mhz.. It should work faster and better then some earlier P4 machines..

And if you do have one of the mentioned above revisions and still slow.. that means something is totally messed up with your machine like:

*SpyWares
*AdWares
*Viruses
*Trojans
*Slower Hard Drive ( I mean the RPM) RPM=Round Per Minute
*Your Machine could be heating up, Becasue one or more FAN is not working
*And many more points which i don't want to mention here since it is not a techsupport forum.

All i can tell for now.. I run two commercial servers, 4 packedup workstations, 2 of the Quad 2.5Mhz PowerG5

The above mentioned machines costs 6 figures. also more then a million dollars.. I am not telling you this to show up tho.. Am just saying this to tell that I have to feedup my hardware so they can give me what i want!! Got my point!

Now here is some questions:

1- What is your max budget to spend on a computer?
2-Are you in the USA or overseas? if overseas please tell me where!

If you are in the USA and want my real advice..

I am a computer Tech and i am into computers since 1978 beleive it or not! If you want to buy a computer.. You have to ask your self a question, which is the most important part that will help you and many others to solve the bigget puzzle!!

What i am going to use it for?

Here is the answers:

1- If you are a gammer, you should stick to AMD and never touch the INTEL processors!!
2- If you want it as a graphic designer and or 3D rendering + handle most of the games, then go with only INTEL..

Many people might say what the hell i am talking about! But again i can answer and tell! That no one on this earth has tried every single processors from the most famous four companies like me.. AMD - INTEL - MOTOROLA - VIA

Many people will tell you that AMD is the best for the MULTIMEDIA!! i will say.. yes... games are MULTIMEDIA, SOUNDS & AUDIO are MULTIMEDIA.. But Graphics ain't!!!

Make it short.. Want it for graphics go for the INTEL at least 64BIT 930 P4-3.4Ghz with 2MB cache and start with 2GB of ram at least PC-4800 DDR2 (667Mhz)

Just tell me where you live and i will post you the nearest store with the cheapest prices ever you can dream of.. all depends on your budget! Wish if you are here in the USA and you know what (COMPUSA) is!! if you know what is that store and have one near you.. I will give you a coporate discount to help you and push you!!

Now smiles and have a wonderful day.. Best regards

JOE

Thank you so much for all the precise details and taking the time to advise me.
I'm in Thailand and use my computer only for work and also enjoying doing some artwork with Photoshop including retouching photos in RAW format. My budget for my next computer is around $us 1000 / 1500 .I really want something that allows me to use Photoshp CS2 and some 3D software. Presently  i have a P3 running at 900 Mgz and no specific Graphic Card. Do you think thge budget is too short. Thank you again Joe

Je suis Francais vivant en Thailande depuis 6ans deja.

Sorry to disappoint you a bit but i'm a Frog living in Thailand presently.
I don't want any Brand name and much preferred home built. It seems that materials here are not too expensive. The thing is: all the softwares sold with Pcs don't have licence. You have been here and i guessed you understand what i mean. Thanks a lot JOE.
