Thought I'd share some pics.

Straight outta the camera...no post except resizing to 800 x 600

First was taken late yesterday

next are from today at lunch

Because of the low shutter...some of the branches are blurred (a bit windy!)

Another one

Definitely have to use a tripod....again because of the slow shutter speeds needed.

On the walkpath

Still need to experiment some more...but I'm likin' the effect...a whole lot!

Welcome to the IR club Joe! :m_thumbu: Some nice test shots there, esp. the last. As you saw with the first one, late day photos don't show the Woods Effect so much. How did you set the White balance? I must say I rather like the straight out of the cam colors. Show us some more when you play around some more! :m_bouncy:

Wow Joe!! these are fantastic pictures.  I really like a 3rd one, this a color combination what I would like to achive...but no luck !

Mine looks like 100% disaster!...You can ask ... What a... heck that!!??    My hubby calls it " very individual" ...(how sweet he is)  I call it a "vivid side of IR "

I love the third one best. The filter makes the bridge stand out wonderfully.

MaydaMason ( ) posted Fri, 28 April 2006 at 8:22 AM

tripod is strongly reccomended in this kind of shots!

good start and white balance settings... cannot understand the cyan "reflection" on some leaves... i love the fourth,  it shows at best the infrared effect!

You can see how postwork is needed though. Joe definitely is getting a central hot-spot like I do, though not a severe. Tunde, I actually really like yours. Very otherworldly. If you don't like the colors, set you camera to B&W mode. ;]

Forgive my ignorance, but do they all come out looking like Tunde's if not set to B/W mode?

I always assumed it would make everything red, lol.Shows how little I know!

if you set the white balance of your camera (for example to the grass), you'll obtain white grass and yellow skies...

if you'll set to "auto" probably you'll obtain a total red image... nothing to do with it...

if you'll set to "tungsten" you'll be able to obtain orange skies and pink foliage...

:)

just play with it

Another from today...

At Kingston Locke on the Delaware-Raritan canal near Princeton.

Find its sometimes hard to compose the shot, as the LCD is useless with the IR filter on.  The G6 has a glass viewfinder that is NOT thru the LENS (more of a reference frame)

A li'l more work...but WORTH the results!

Nice one Joe. Yep, those cyan highlights are odd but cool! =]

Here are some recent shots using the R72 with my C-8080 and the colors set to B&W. Postwork was done in Photohop, mainly Autolevels.

And one more in my garden. Tripod mounted because of the 5sec. exposure. You can see the plants moving in the wind.

Nice pictures, nice garden, nice...

Thanks. IR can be a challenge, but sometimes you get some unique effects. BTW, the Hoya R72 can be used in the place of a neutral density filter to "soften" moving water. That's my tip of the day and I'm sticking to it!

Seems all the IR info i posted here in forums is gone, including explanations about why the colors do what they do. You didnt happen to save all that info did you Twopynts?
