Subject: V3 Feet - Don't get fooled again

Undoubtedly people are going to see some more 'assurances' and 'evidence' elsewhere on the web regarding a recent event.

I want to nip that in the bud.

To that effect, I am posting some images of V3's feet, complete with one of those oh-so-popular animated-gifs (except my animated gif does not contain a foot, it contains a tylenol, sorta).

First off, let's count the polys in a circle around V3's foot...

Oooh, 30 polygons. Just remember that and don't be surprised when you find that other feet may have similar numbers around.

I'm the asshole. You wanna be a shit? You gotta go through ME.

Hmm, what's up next? Well, we have the concept of subdivision transits. Look for these on renders of meshes you see later. They MIGHT be highlighted in YELLOW depending on the picture you look at... Ahem.

Subdivision transits happen when you go from a lower poly mesh to a higher poly mesh all of a sudden. V3 has a nice even line around her face where V2's face was subdivided to make V3s... but we're looking at feet here, so I wanted to make sure you cn see some on her foot mesh. These are they.

Next we have the count around the leg. How many? 24. Make a slightly higher res mesh, you might have 27 or 28. Get it?

Lets look again at the subdivision transits. I want to you pay close attention to this because it shows a subdivision in progress and the result with a nice pink thing to show you where I mean you to look.

Moreover, it's animated, and animated means everything. Say 'oooh'.

But the main point is that I want you to know what a subdivision transit looks like, lest someone of less apparent ethics should tell you it's something else, like, for instance, an 'Obvious stitch reattachment'.

Keep in mind that the chances that a stitch job is NOT likely to look like this unless the perosn stiching things together should just HAPPEN to have one mesh to stitch to the other that's EXACTLY twice the number of edges as the other at the stitching edge. That wouldn't likely happen when stitching two disparate meshes together.

But selective subdivision does this all the time. Look the Unimesh in the face and tell me it doesn't. Mainly look at the side of the face.

I'm the asshole. You wanna be a shit? You gotta go through ME.

But the other 'evidence' you speak about is on the Internet; it has to be true ... o_O

You know what is right for you. I know what is right for me.

If I remember correctly, the initial complaint was that someone whom apparently had never tried 3d modeling created a nice character and released it out of the blue.  Impossible because of the amount of work required to create a mesh of the human form.

With that in mind, all evidence that attempts to prove the meshes are the same seems to show modeling skill that the original claim says could not have been there and that someone has decided they are the only person in the world skillful enough to create a mesh of the human form.

Those of you that feel Poserdom has taken a step back towards mediocrity need to remember that we cannot rely on one person to model everything.  I don't care how good they are.  There are others that are now learning this craft that will rise above current achievements.

To discourage budding artists will leave the community stagnant.  Anyone that feels they should hold a monopoly on design is trying to keep the community from growing.  I would rather be part of a community that encourages novice creators into greatness than one that finds a mark it considers perfection and sits around content.

I know for damn sure that when I dust off my ancient copy of Maya and start modelling again, it will be a long time before I even let anyone look at what I modelled.

So, could I "Out of the blue" release a new human figure.  Quite possibly, because that's all I really want to make.  Would it be a trace over or body bag? Not at all, and following Gabriel's advice, I will keep a record of my workflow.

Yes but... from the pics I have seen of Clark's mesh... it's NOT very good. And anyway, what if Kim Goossens hadn't made such a popular name for himself on GCTalk before the Girl came to DAZ? Seriously, think about it... what ig Goossens had just showed up in the RMP one day with The Girl, instead of all the fuss about how he didn't want it for Poser at first and all... People wouldn't have known where he came from either. One does not need to be an established merchant or free stuff generator to have experience. And since PhilC did the rigging, there's no telling where Shahara may have background. The whole 'out of the blue' thing is a sham, because Shahara could have been working on a human figure for years. But probably not because I'd think if it were years that Clark wold look nicer.

I agree completely.  To say he couldn't model yet he could combine meshes and alter them is silly.  For the work you would go through to do that, it is easier to model your own.  Oh, did I mention how skillfully that was done so it wouldn't be obvious?  Sanity check in aisle 7, please.

Thank you XFX3d for explaining to those of us who are iggerant about modelling (especially me) how certain things work, and how they don't.
