Subject: Anyone think this is worth "Poserizing"?

Ran across this character for 3DS Max. (which I don't have)

She looks kind of cool and her price is right. (free)

Anyone with Max want to see if she'd make a good Poser figure?

I think you'd be better off approximating her with Posette. She doesn't look like a much better figure.

As luck would have it, I was able to extract ruby using an old copy of 3D Explorer (very rare, indeed, to find a MAX file that will load into any other program without actually having 3DS Max!)

The mesh is higher resolution than Posette and the face is much better, however much of the clothing is actually modeled as part of  the base geometry, and therefore cannot by removed, giving the character limited usability.

I think what attracts me to the figure is the "cartoon babe" way her body is proportioned. Not "anime" so much as American comic book. I don't know any Poser figure that's built quite like this, (long legs, big hips, short waist, short chest, small shoulders...as opposed to say, V3's short legs, long waist, long chest and broad shoulders) and I don't think any current figure could be morphed that way without completely messing up the joint parameters.  Wish there were, though!

I'm assuming you made this character from scratch, right?
Or is it safe to assume that you have the full permission from the original creator to Poser-ize this figure, right?

If you answered NO to either of these questions, then don't even think about trying to Poser-ize the figure without the original artist's express permission.
And when you distribute the Poser version, don't forget to give the original artist credit for making the mesh.

Although the artist will probably give permission (especially since this is a free item), you should always ask permission before converting to another file format.

I have never really liked posesttes face at all (with the exception of a few morphs like nea) but this one is really nice I like her looks very much.

I hadda click off the ATI site due to the lengthy flash intro, but since it's Ruby from ATI, this implies that the 'squid is once again violating copyright. jeez, I wish I had a dollar for every time that's happened.

To me, she resembles the default figure that comes with I-CLONE.

I'm not the creator of this model, but I would never convert and distribute anyone else's work without permission. To be honest, since the model is in MAX format and I don't have MAX, I didn't expect to be able to even look at the geometry. I simply wanted someone who does have MAX to look at it and tell me if they thought it was worth any further investigation. Now having seen the geometry, I think if I could get the author to give me a version without the clothes or hair (hence, making it more generic and avoiding any copywrite issues) it just might be worth it.

That's a really great looking character!  I love her body shape and face.  I'd be very interested in using her if she was poserized.  😄

the Ruby figure is made by RhinoFX,perhaps contacting them may be an idea,

they may have given permission for the figure to be at turbo squid or the person who has it at 'squid may also be the original modeler

It's not uncommon for ATI to use commericaly available models in there campaigns,

Apparently the creator of this mesh...nobicasa...is German (or at least a German speaker).  A lot of posts at 3dmaxforum.de. Could contact him (her) by joining that forum, but my highschool German is rather rusty...
