Subject: Walking in Sand

1)Any tips on how to animate foot prints walking on a beach? I have 76 frame animation of a figure walking along a sandy beach and it doesn't look right without leaving some sort of impression in the sand!

  1. Anyone making Python scripts for Vue 5 Infinity other than those supplied and Random walk? I take it the Poser scipts do not work in Vue 5 Infinity.

Cheers

  1. See this thread -> http://market.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?message_id=2289179 for a few ideas.
As Vue doesn't have displacement mapping, you may not get quite the same effect with Bump maps alone.

  2. Poser scripts won't work with out conversion if they access anything in the Poser module, everything else is just standard Python or tkInter.

Well there's SkinVue at Cornucopia3D which is using Python.

I've put out 6 (including the Random Walk script) so far and I've got  a couple more ideas for little scripts that may or may not be of use to anyone.  I'd like to put out more but I've really only got time to tackle one larger project and not give up all my spare time - and my Blog's name is apt as I have far Too many Ideas.

Too be honest I'm surprised there arn't more out there.  Although I wonder if the restriction to V4P/V5I has stifled interest as developers have a smaller market to sell to if they want to make money.

I picked on VueDynamics because I got fed up with reading all the complaints about the lack of particles.  I always thought that sooner or later someone else would release a script to do that I could buy but I finally gave in and decided to see what I could make for myself.

I hope that by putting scripts out other people will get interested and see the possibilites.  As programming languages go Python isn't the hardest to write.  Then I can enjoy the fruits of their labours.

Hi,

to animate footprint in the sand, I would do boolean difference between the ground (a terrain maybe) and a model of  foot print.

I don't know if it is possible in poser to export just the feet in order to use them for the boolean operation. Maybe it would be better to use something else than exactely the foot because it have to be irregular a little. Like a terrain. Hope it helps.

Anty

PS : I've done a little scene to see if it works, but I can't upload it on this forum :-( ask me if you want it: :-)

make greyscale, 2d iamge of what you want footprint to look like.

Import and apply to a terrain, scale it be suitable for the character.

duplicate these terrains, make them invisible material, boolean out of the beach as character walks on ;)

Hi,

this is a try to upload the file...doesn't work... I'll try something else!

here is a link, i hope it will works :

http://www.badongo.com/file/696437

it is a little scene file i made when I first saw your message to see how to do that. Hope it helps!

As silverblade said, use an invisible texture for the footprint, or the same texture as the ground.

Regards,

Anty
