Subject: Reinstall--Unable to input first INST number when it asks for activation code

Pauldg ( ) posted Sun, 14 May 2006 at 4:27 PM · edited Sun, 26 January 2025 at 8:18 PM

HI: I need help. I attempting to reinstall V5i, but it will not allow me to input the INST number that I first downloaded the software. I am now unable to use any stuff I purchased at Cornucopia3d. Has anyone else had this issue. It is a legal version of V5i.

An installation will ask for your serial number.  That is a number that begins with VUE.  If you have a downloaded version, it probably came in an email.   The installation code (beginning with INST) is created during the install of Vue.

Hope this helps

V5i places the serial automatically when installing. Not sure if it did that when I first installed it. After install, it is asking me for the INST number.

Strange, thre INST code is given by Vue once you have installed the program with the serial you were given, which starts with VUE. Is your version an upgrade or sidegrade?

Hi there,

I Have the same problem as I have upgraded from pro studio.

You need to make sure that you install the latest upgrade from E-on first. Then put in the serial number and it should work.

Hope this helps

Thanks all. I am still attempting to get it to work. It did work when I first upgrade from Pro Studio. I had to reinstall, and it has not worked since. And, I did install Pro Studio before installing Infinite. I purchased it from E-ons website. I'll keep trying, and will report back if I can get it working.

Best is to contact e-on's tech support. You shouldn't have to install Pro Studio before Infinite, even if sidegrade, you would just need to give every serial number you had, if your ProStudio was an upgrade from 5 Esprit, you should enter each serial Vue asks ( 5 Esprit serial, and then every add -on module serial one by one), if you bought 5 Pro Studio without upgrading from 5 Esprit, you should only need your Pro Studio serial.

Before going through the process of entering serials, you need to download the latest official update for your Infinite ( 5.09), and run it right after reinstallling 5 Infinite, and then only, open Vue and enter your serials.

I will try that. Thanks. I have already contacted tech but have yet to hear back.

OK.. you need to do a little research.. but if you go to E-on's help forum.. you'll find I thread that I started over there basicly screamng at them about it all.... you need to reinstall... but.. you need to remove any and all files in your system/drive/app's.. etc that say Vue or e-on. then ou need ALL you re #'s going back to the very first one ( I have to tpe in 7... yup 7 reg #'s to get Inf to run) Whole big long thing on it.... then you'll be able to use your C3D items...

Colour me stupid, but I don't know how to ensure that I get all files, including in my registry. How would I do that? Appreciate your help guys.

bobbystahr ( ) posted Mon, 15 May 2006 at 10:58 PM

You could search the net for a free ware ver of RegCleaner  and do a find/search of both words using find next and delete as you go as long as they seem to refer to Vue and not vue, and e-on, shouldn't be that much...there are a couple of pages you can inspect your computer from in there..stuff like that, but I'm no expert, wait till you get more solid advice than mine...LOL....

Some time ago, I got problems on Mac with a preceeding version (having several versions) and found that there was a EON.reg file -without the dash-, that kept things running wrong. I trashed it, too, re-installed Vues, and things went back to normal.

thomllama ( ) posted Tue, 16 May 2006 at 5:09 AM · edited Tue, 16 May 2006 at 5:10 AM

ya.. GPfrance is correct... I had the same file. also after you re-reg everything, if you copy that file, save it somewhere,.. if you ever have a problem again you can just stick that file back, or it's just a text file and you can read it to get your #'s later

Thanks thomllama! I also received a response from E-on about a .reg file issue. I will post their response here later when I put the kids to bed. Once again, thank you all for your help.

Pauldg ( ) posted Tue, 16 May 2006 at 8:58 PM

This is the reply I received from E-on. I must say, they were fairly quick to reply and be helpful.

...

In fact, the problem is not linked to your new Vue 5 Infinite Installation code (which is recognized as identical to the old one by the system, since the difference is only due to the name you entered during installation) but to your Vue 5 Esprit licence: the system uses your old Vue 5 Esprit licence to allow you using your Cornucopia items both in Vue 5 Esprit and Vue 5 Infinite (if they are compatible with Vue 5 Esprit)

That is why it is important that you indicate the same Vue 5 Esprit Serial Number as you did the first time you installed Vue 5 Infinite (normally, it is simply the Serial Number you got with Vue 5 Esprit). You must have indicated a different serial when you reinstalled Vue 5 Infinite. To fix this, you just have to remove the Vue 5 Infinite.reg file from your Windows directory and relaunch Vue 5 Infinite: you will be asked your old Vue 5 Esprit serial number. Please make sure you type it correctly. If it still does not work, do not hesitate to contact me again (and please indicate the Vue 5 Esprit serial number you are using)
