I'm also wondering how to make the skin wet.  I'd like to be able to make something like an overlay for a texture I am already using.  Although it sounds like you'd like to be able to use a shader for that effect.

The only thing I don't procrastinate is procrastinating. That I do right away.

I seem to recall posting a full description here of how to make any texture look wet quite recently.

Phantast, Do you know what the thread was called regarding wet skin? Also I understand you also posted some information on using magnets, which I cannot seem to find. Cheers

I don't remember. I need to write up a proper tutorial when I get a chance so that the information doesn't keep getting lost.

was this the one? the search feature for the forums is really quite useful as a first approach to finding information. type in "wet skin", limit the forums to be searched to poser, leave the date range as is, or if you think the info was posted more than 45 days ago, change the date range, press search -- and presto. phantast's info was in the first hit.

Interested to read this thread. Nothing reasonable to offer the conversation though.  *

The problem with adding drops to the texture is that it doesn't account for gravity. If you're posing your characther lying down, or with the arms up or something... it will look fake.

I have bought a few good wet characters (for M3) but they only work in certain situations.

A shader that actually took the orientation of the character into account would be very cool. Ajax has some various skin types in his Free Shader Pack (I believe it's still here in freestuff) - they're all based on Don (I think) but of course the texture map could be swapped for the one you're using.

Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.

I'm sure this "could" be possible, using the P node for example. I'm not good enough using the shaders, but if i remember well, the P node allows to work with the height of an object. So the bottom could be wider than the top.

I'll try to look if there is a way to create drops, but as said, i'm not as good (by far not) as Ajax for example.

And if i remember well, Ajax did a Wet and Dirt shader in his "Shader Pack". It was for Poser 5, but i think it should work with Poser 6, with little adjustment.

Phantast ( ) posted Wed, 17 May 2006 at 5:02 AM

That was the one.

But droplets are essential to a proper wet look, and if they are running the wrong way that's too bad. With a lot of work one could rework the pattern so that the drops are running the way you want, otherwise your choices are, either (a) keep your character upright, or (b) hope that no-one will notice (which is quite possible, depending on the degree of closeup).

Some amount of non-realism in Poser is acceptable, in my view. Worse things happen with joints and hair before we start worrying about direction of water flow.

Ajax's P5 Shader Pack 01 has a dirty and water droplets nodes. Its in the free stuff section. just do a search for it. With Poser 6 you'll have to tweak the settings a bit.
