Hi guys, Ilike to know why Apollo Maximus is not available anymore for purchase, someone? Thanks

MachineClaw ( ) posted Wed, 24 May 2006 at 2:03 PM

Anton pulled his products off the market and has left the Poser market.

Anton pulled his products from e-frontier due to a contract issue that neither party could resolve, so Anton pulled his products and decided to leave the Poser market entirely.  Anton ain't coming back to Poser.  Anton has and still holds the copyright on ApolloMax and related products that Anton created.

Thank  you guys!

kathym ( ) posted Wed, 24 May 2006 at 3:53 PM

Well I can't made heads or tails outta it. He pulled Apollo because it was simular to Clark or because Clark was simular to him?

Just enjoying the Vue. :0)

Acadia ( ) posted Wed, 24 May 2006 at 3:54 PM

I think you can still get Apollo.  There is a book for Poser 6 out that has a CD with it, and the CD contains the Apollo figure. It's not the full package though.

jonthecelt ( ) posted Wed, 24 May 2006 at 4:03 PM

Further to MachineClaw's statements... the pulling of AM from e-Frontier was due to a contractual clash which could not be resolved... Anton had considered offering Apollo Max to Renderosity as an exclusive store item, but after the situation that developed over the Clark figure, and the lack of a satisfactory (for him) result, he has decided to retire from the Poser market completely. Whilst I am saddened by the loss of Apollo (I never got round to getting the 2006 upgrade, adn then just as I had some cash to do so, the danged thing got pulled...), I accept Anton's right to do as he wishes. From comments he's made over the years, he was doing this predominantly because it was fun for him. If it stopped being fun, then why would he carry on working on it?

Shame we're DEFINITELY never going to see Venus now, though...

never fear, anton will be back. just give him time. if a new function allowing import of jointed/boned figures into P7 is implemented, I don't see how he could resist. not that I know anything, mind you, but it's past time they did something about the joints.

jonthecelt ( ) posted Wed, 24 May 2006 at 4:53 PM

I'm not so sure... there aren't many major marketplaces he can operate out of by now... he and DAZ are pretty well defunct now... RuntimeDNA ended on a sour note, though I'd never claim to know the ins and outs of what happened at the end... e-Frontier and him couldn't agree on contractual miutiae... and then there's the thing here with Clark...

I like the guy's output, but he does have a tendency to hold a grudge... about the only places left to him are sites such as renderotica or animotions... and i'm not sure either is an avenue he's really prepared to go down...

He oould always operate from his own website. Very sad about apollo, well he's still available as you say, via the book, but without the maker's support he will slowly die I fear. I feel almost like Anton is destroying a person. Very sad. But as you say, he had his reasons. I hope he does come back to poser one day. Love esther

the book is practical poser 6 by denise tyler and audre vysniauskas, and it's very much worth the money, even without considering that apollo2005 is on the CD. if one takes that into account, it becomes dirt cheap. :) there are quite a number of other figures from DAZ and e-frontier as well, but i imagine apollo is now the biggest deal.

kathym ( ) posted Wed, 24 May 2006 at 7:44 PM

I wish I could get in touch with him - I'd gladly host any items he'd wish to make on my site. Its nice to see how the big guys are working over the little guys.

Just enjoying the Vue. :0)

And it's best that people who witnessed the whole thing answer if at all possible. No offense to Kathym, but if she thinks Anton was ganged up on, she obviously wasn't there to witness his behaviour before the offending posts were deleted.

Acadia ( ) posted Thu, 25 May 2006 at 1:29 AM

estherau, yes, not everyone knows. However, simply saying the figure is no longer available should suffice.  There is no need to go into the dirty details.

Mizrael, it's done and over and in the past.  Can't you let it go and move on? Anton  isn't  here anymore, and to continue to drag him through the mud is just wrong.  Leave it be.

Yes Acadia, like you let the erotica argument go when it was obvious that you and the other person were at loggerheads over a definition. Please, let's not start acting like my mother and telling me how to behave, you're not her. I'm not dragging Anton through anything, in name or otherwise. I'm merely pointing out the facts to those who keep mislaying them.

I'm sorry if that bothers you but there's no way I'm going to let people think he was ganged up on when he was the one instigating things. It's not fair to those who were his targets. If you can't deal with that, don't read my posts.

The difference if you haven't noticed, is that one was a debate, and this is just outright gossiping about someone who isn't even here to defend themselves against what is said about them.

It didn't start out as a debate and neither is this a debate. Nor are you the one to be telling me what to do. If I breech the TOS, the Mods will get me. As long as I stick to the facts of what happened, I don't need you to correct me. Kindly get off my case.

Geez, you just have to mention the names "Anton" and "Apollo", and everyone seems to turn feral .....

jonthecelt ( ) posted Thu, 25 May 2006 at 4:14 AM

Mizrael, for what it's worth, I DID read the whole 25 pages of the Clark thread. What I saw there was someone who genuinely believed they'd been wronged by another merchant. Whilst I cnanot say that Anton presented himself in the bestlight there, with his public showing of private conversations, he was simply letting people see the evidence he believe himself to have uncovered in other places. A number of other users here DID gang up on him, rolling their eyes and saying 'oh, it's Anton as usual', bringin up old threads to prove how irrational he's been in the past, ridiculing him and his claims, and so on.

I'm not coming down on one side or the other here regarding whether Anton's claims were true - it's not my place to judge, as I don't have Clark myself to scompare them - but the fact that Anton continued to be railed against for several pages after he said his farewells and was not there to defend himself shows that he was not the only one who may have behaved in an unfair manner. The situation may have been instigated by his allegtions, but kathym is right to say that people DID gang up on him as well.

jonthecelt ( ) posted Thu, 25 May 2006 at 4:21 AM

And for what it's worth, a quick rift through the 'search function' would show that kathym actually participated in the clark debate, so it's unlikely that she didn't know what was going on...

LostinSpaceman ( ) posted Thu, 25 May 2006 at 7:00 AM · edited Thu, 25 May 2006 at 7:02 AM

Let me point this out for the LAST TIME. Just because someone has gone back and read the whole 25 pages, DOES NOT mean they witnessed everything. Nor does active participation guarantee they witnessed all that went on. There were many messages from Anton that were not only edited but also deleted, either by him or by a moderator. Late arrivals to the thread and those who go back to read it now, are not the ones who saw the whole story. In either case it makes no difference. What has been left in that thread doesn't reflect what happened in that thread.

Anton made personal attacks against anyone and everyone who didn't see things his way, even those who were on his side. Some of us, who were there watching him post then immediately edit his messages, saw what was going on.

It looks like he was ganged up on NOW because those of us who chose to respond to his attacks left our messages there INTACT and Unedited. He, however did not. There was no ganging up, there was response to his attacks both public and personal and that's all you have left to see because his attacks were either edited by himself or deleted by moderators for breech of TOS. Period. End of Story.

Anton burned out publically and took Apollo and his support with him. Everyone who paid good money for that figure is now left high and dry and any attempt to contact Anton,  even by well wishers, has been thoroughly rebuffed. If he wants to come back and defend his actions, fine, but his actions pretty much stand on their own and he doesn't care to make right what he made wrong. I have the right to explain what happened when someone comes in from out of the rain and asks where he's gone. This will most likely not be the last thread where someone innocently asks "Whut Hoppened?!?" and they get the answers from myself and the rest of the peanut gallery.

What we don't need is people who weren't there trying to color things rosey when they didn't see it as it happened. It was a shitstorm and shit stinks. Some of the shit was swept under the delete carpet and some was disguised by the Lysol editor, that only masked the smell, it didn't go away. As long as some of us are still using the figure we spent good hard earned money on, we're going to talk about this. That's a fact. I have personally over $120 invested in Apollo, he's not going away from my runtime anytime soon and as such I have a right to discuss him and the way I was treated as a customer in any way, shape or form that doesn't breech the TOS and I will continue to do so.

jonthecelt ( ) posted Thu, 25 May 2006 at 7:09 AM

Given the number of items still on sale at Content Paradise for Apollo, either from this site or from Runtime DNA, I'm not entirely certain we can claim to be 'left high and dry'. Nor is there anything stopping anyone from creating new items for him, just because the original figure is no longer for sale. All it means is that there will be no further updates to the figure, and nothing forthcoing from its creator.

You, personally, were not treated in any way as a customer that I saw (unless this was in some of the deleted posts, in which case, I withdraw this statement), so to claim that you have been personally hurt in a move by someone who did it with no personal feelings towards any of us is simply wrong. There is still an Apollo community, and there is still stuff being produced, whether for free or for sale.

LostinSpaceman ( ) posted Thu, 25 May 2006 at 7:48 AM

You may or may not have noticed that some of the items for Apollo at Content Paradise were pulled. Items people paid for. Downloads of those items in the future, if they loose any of them will be impossible because the downloads were given a 30 day deadline. Download them and burn them to disk or kiss them goodbye. Items like the Apollo 2006 update that I and others paid for.

Accidents happen, systems crash and disks do get mangled. Because of his actions there are items that I personally have to make sure I have mutiple burned CD backups of if I don't want to loose them.

As a matter of fact, you missed a lot of deleted posts so you don't have any right to tell me I'm simply wrong on the basis of what's left there to read. I was there and you were not. That's one of the quickest ways to piss me off, if you hadn't noticed. Spouting off about what did and didn't happen when you weren't there is what's wrong. If you didn't see it, weren't there to get hit by the venom and accusations he was tossing around, you don't need to be taking any sides. He was wiping them out as fast as he posted them so that by the time someone finished replying to one of his messages he'd already edited out the offending comment.

This has all been said in the thread that you read, and those posts are still there. The fact that you have chosen to ignore the repeated comments on his deltions and editing skills just paints you as an instigator more than me. I guess you just like pushing people's buttons. I'm done.

carodan ( ) posted Thu, 25 May 2006 at 9:16 AM

I was there throughout that whole sordid thread - lost a lot of sleep over it by doing so.

While I would agree that Anton did post a lot of accusations and threw his fair share of mud, to say that 'Nobody worked over Anton except for Anton himself' does paint a slightly one sided picture. And it places the whole emphasis of the circumstances surrounding his leaving the Poser community on one forum thread, which as others have suggested ignores issues that were going on in the background.

How does the saying go? - 'It takes two to tango'. Well, my recollection of those few days is that there were an awful lot of people 'tango'ing' with Anton in that thread, including a lot of comments that were equally in violation of the TOS of this site. I was getting a strong sense of personal histories coming through in the various posts as well, which complicates the perception of what was really being said.

I was personally dismayed at the sluggish response of the mods in this case.

I can't say I wholly agreed with the way Anton went about presenting himself, but I also felt disappointed by some of the responses of other members here, and for me this forum and site (as a place I feel entirely happy to participate in) was tainted as a result.

Just my perception.
