Subject: How to modify materials after a TransPoser import?

Daz1971 ( ) posted Sat, 27 May 2006 at 3:12 AM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 11:33 AM

Hi all,

I just bought Transposer 2 for Carrara 5. I've imported a scene into C5 successfully, and now I want to customise the imported shaders.

My question is: how do I tell which layers in the "layers list" shader are applied to which parts of the Poser model? All of my "Apply to" dropdowns are empty. I was hoping to see the body part names in the dropdowns so I could easily find the shaders I need to modify.

Thanks a lot!
Darren

If you are importing a PZ3 using transposer it groups everything, using native it comes in as parts...that's IF using PZ3.

When you see the shader, just click on edit & you should see all it's parts.

I can do a screen grab if you all need one :)

I would love to see a screen grab. I find this texture aspect very confusing.

Here ya go. This was imported using Transposer.

Step 1 click on edit next to the shader...top right & you will get this:

Here is the same church imported using NATIVE...notice we now have parts.

Now that we have parts....click on the shaders tab & viola...all the shaders used are here.

You can click on this tab at any time to see all the materials that are being used in your scene :) And edit from there.

you may wish to change the "layers list" shader to "multi channel" shader

its closer to the structure of poser mat room, and a bit easier to edit your shaders
i never keep the imported shaders or lights, as no program is perfect at importing
i always switch to multi channel and recreate the shader from scratch

The one I showed is a UV map made specifically for this item.

Thanks dlk30341, I appreciate your help. I found out what I was doing wrong. Turns out if you uncheck the "Keep link to Poser file" option when doing a TransPoser import, all the part names (in the layers list) disappear, as per the attached screenshot. I turned "Keep link to Poser file" back on, and I get the part names back again, exactly like the screenshot you supplied. Yay!
