Subject: Help..Hand Painting 2nd Skin questions

xDoCx ( ) posted Sun, 04 June 2006 at 10:58 AM · edited Fri, 07 February 2025 at 9:21 PM

Hello, First off I am new as new gets, so some of my questions may seem odd. I am using Poser 6.0. The first thing I want to attempt is hand painting a body suit so to speak that can be applied to Victoria. I have Victoria and all the head body morphs and the template. I also just got a skin for her (which I will get soon cuz im new). I see in the material room where you click the parts and add the texture to each part. I have messed around with this just using a JPG I created off the templates. I am use to hand painting and texturing 2D in Photoshop and I use targas for my transparencies.

 Questions are..

-         Can I use Targas files for my transparencies? When I look at these types of products for sale I only see JPG’s or do I use another jpg in the material room for its transparency?

-         Once I do create a texture, I have to apply it to each part in order to render on the model? Or is there something I am not seeing?

-         Once I get her all rendered, can I save out the new “2nd skin part” somehow so it can be applied to any Victoria model and or skin? Or do I have to go back to the material room each time and apply it part by part again?

-         Last one…hair…I see all this great hair on models in the market place ad's. Is this being post created or is it being rendered in poser and where can I get some of these.

 Thanks in advance !!

All advice helps, I might be going and or headed in the wrong direction.

I am really enjoying learning this and seeing all the creations that are done here. Very amazing work !

I can't help much with the second skin part, I know you will need a program like grylin said to make the MAT files and such.  I dont know about targas 100%  but ive never heard them mentioned so probably not.  Until you create the MAT file you will have to apply it to each part manually.  I think you can select all and apply but that selects the whole figure not just certain parts.  As for the hair theres wonderful hair here and at Daz and at 3d Commune and a few other places.  Some paint theres on while others use hair made for poser.

Some to check out here would be 3Dream,  Bice, SWAM (maybe others those are just what I could think of)

At Daz you got Lisbeth and some others, Im not good with all these names lol.

At 3D Commune you have FK Designs (Beautiful hair but kinda expensive)

Then you also have hair brushes and stuff like that here in the store.

Oh and Runtime DNA has some good ones to.

Digital Babes has got some nice hair and its free!

You're using Poser 6, right?

You can go to the Material Room and save the whole texture as a Material Collection, which is Poser 6's equivalent of a MAT Pose.  With this, you can apply the texture to any of your compatible figures.

As for textures/transparencies and what not, you're better off using JPG because it offers a reasonable quality v size ratio, which you can adjust in most graphics packages.
