Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 23 8:11 am)
You know shadow cat, I have to agree with you. There for awhile I was seriously thinking of taking my computor into the shop to see what was wrong with it, until I realised that nasty bogging sensation only happened when I went to certain sites..sites with free stuff on them..stores that offered free things. I don't know whats going on, but I have to tell you, it's got me more than a bit concerned myself. SeaRose
Morph World is also incredibly difficult to get on these days too. I am afraid that one of the reasons is that it is a very profitable business for people to operate "Pay By The Hour" internet sites in many second-third world countries. People come into these Internet Parlors where they pay to use popular bootlegged software. But it has gone from the word-processing/desktop publishing level on to programs like Poser and other 3D Apps... People are sold hour blocks of time, and can also purchase, all the "free" models that have been downloaded from U.S. and other high-speed websites. For many people in these other countries, this is their only access to the internet. In addition, CD's of the downloads are sold too. So actually, new 3D models are constantly being "harvested" for these closed-loop internet and CD operations, which are quite profitable for their operators, since they only have to make a relatively small hardware investment and have at least one high-speed modem. Business is great, and they are rapidly expanding all over the world...
Incidently, how do programs like God!zilla (or whatever it is called) work? Do they start mutiple sessions and download mutiple files at once, assuming that if the server was the limiting factor and they were more users they would get more of the server output? I assume they only work on a fast connection on the client end. There must be some kind of server software that would prevent mutiple connections from the same IP.
I don't use those types of programs, but from what I have seen, they can run multiple downloads, and will "remember" where the download left off if the connection is dropped, so the whole file doesn't have to be downloaded again. There are also "site stripper" programs that will download entire sites in one swipe.

I think I've solved this problem at the 3D-CC. At least on my end, I know that the new download window I've made prevents these programs from triggering on my end, not sure about anyone else's. Can you guys please help me check this by going to the above link and trying to download either Wolverine or one of the New Police? Then let me know if any of these programs work after clicking the Download button. Thanks a lot. DraXTo DraX It's almost good. But what you may want to add to the popup page is No Right Mouse Click Javascriptits still possible to get the file by looking through sourcefind the link and copy to clipboardlast time I used Getright (it was version 4) it could detect clipboard stuff and start d-loading. And if I remember correctly Godz!lla does that too.

I have had a dark thought that I can't seem to shake, so I'll share it. It seems as if suddenly many of the free stuff sites are being raped by download software. There are also many pay sites and products that are competing with free stuff. Is it a possiblity of someone, or group of someones, targeting the free sites for useless mass downloads in order to force them out? One thing that Rena said, was that the #1 download was a stupid P3 something or other. Why would a P3 item be the #1 download? Also since the closure of poserworld the speed of props guild has suddenly dropped (someone switched targets?) I don't know, maybe it's a paranoid idea, but then it seems as if the poser community is not as friendly as it seems when there are a few dollar signs thrown in.
