Subject: Making one master for many identical vertex objects

I have imported a wagon wheel vertex object with many spokes.  Each spoke is individually named but they are all identical.  They do not have a common master so they each show up as a unique vertex object with its on master.  Since I would like to change the diameter of the spokes and their UV mapping so I can texture them, it  would be great if there was a way to link all of them to one master.  In this way you could  make the changes once instead of having to repeat the changes for each spoke. Anyone have any ideas on how to do this?

I would delete all the spokes except for one and EDIT/DUPLICATE or (cmd+D on a Mac) and that will create multiple instances but only one master object for all of them. So when you edit the master, it will update all of them. Chucker P.S. Keep all of the current spokes in place, duplicate one of them, move the duplicate spoke into position where it should be on the wheel. Then when you tell it to duplicate again, it should move the next ones into place automatically all the way around the wheel as you duplicate. If this sounds confusing, then just keep the original ones there for reference, make your duplicates and put them in place where the current spokes are, then delete the old spokes when you are done.

Why not simply select/group them all? And, if you follow Chucker, group the originals and just switch off the visible. And you dont need UVs and your shader can be applied to the children!

Thanks for the help.  I used Chucker's suggestion and it worked great.  I was hoping that someone knew how Carrara stored the information and I could edit the Carrara file directly.  The solution to duplicate one object did work great.

Thanks again,

Dan
