Subject: Unable to load purchased plants

gothicenchantedangel ( ) posted Sun, 18 June 2006 at 6:43 AM · edited Tue, 24 December 2024 at 7:05 PM

Hiya I recently upgraded to Vue 5 Infinite from Vue 5 Esprit.  I am a total newbie and learning the basics so have not done much with the program.  I had purchased and installed some plants from Cornucopia and installed them no problem, but since then I bought a new hard drive and re-installed Vue 5 Infinite and thought I would be able to just copy my plants folder from my other drive to the new install. Now I've realised I shouldn't have done this as I am getting a locate Cornucopia 3D item message.  When I do find it it keeps asking me to locate the item until I click no, then I get an unable to read the .veg file.

Has anyone had this happen to them and were able to fix it?  I tried to delete the .veg files from the plants folder, re-download my purchases from Cornucopia and reinstall them again using the installer and extracting the zips to the new install's plant folder, but the same thing keeps happening. I also get the unable to read .veg file when trying to load other plant species I have purchased.

Any advice will be appreciated.

I just had the same problem.  If you bought the plants/objects when you only had Vue 5 then they are locked into Vue5.  In order to get them to work for Vue 5 INF you will have to contact the support at Cornucopia and have them reset all your down loads so it will work in Vue5 INF.  Once they due this the downloads will not work in Vue5, so make sure you have a local copy of them in case you want to use them in Vue5.  For now whenever you purchase something from Cornucopia make sure Vue 5 INF is selected at the top of the check out page.  The techs inform me they are trying to correct this, but that's the work around for now.  Hope this helps:)

Ok, to make it correct - without immediately contact support at Cornucopia3D. You have bought items that are bound to a serial number. In your case to your 5 Esprit one. You only have to contact support when you have downloaded the item you have bought 4 times already. Five downloads are possible by default, only when you reached that you need to reset the downloads. But keep in mind that when you download an item the fifth time it will disappear from your purchases list because you have reached the limit. First, and i guess you have already done that, is to register your new copy of Infinite. Congratulations to that btw. If you have done that you go to Cornucopia and there to your account, there to "my purchases". There you see the items you have purchased and can edit those then - to change the items to your new Infinite serial number. After you ave done that you simply download them again, now bound to your Infinite serial number. Because you have 5 downloads anyway i guess you can do that without problem already. AND, now that you have the item for both program versions on your computer you of course can exchange scenes between those. So you will be able to load an Esprit scene that used this item into Infinite without this question you got about locating the item manually.

Thanks for replying Stew451.  I did purchase the plants when I bought Infinite but I didn't realise there was a box for Vue 5 Infinite that needed ticking at checkout. That explains why the installer wanted to install into Vue 5 Esprit when I ran the installer and had to direct it to Infinite's folder instead, and why it asked for my Vue 5 Esprit serial when I tried to load it in the first time on my old Hard drive lol.

Can I assume it's the copy right protection thats kicking in when I'm trying to load the plants as it's the second time they have been installed?

@ Wade, yes I did register infinite, I've edited this post as I hadn't seen your reply.  Thanks for letting me know about editing the purchases at Cornucopia, I will do that now.

Thanks for the help.

As i said - you don't need to contact Cornucopia3D, you only need to download the correct version. There is a popup menu where you select the serial number for which you want to have the item. You btw as well can simply purchase the item(s) again, the system will recognise automatically that you have pruchased it already and does not charge you for that again. For me this is faster than to first find it in "my purchases", edit and then redownload the thing.

I looked at my purchases and they were already for Infinite, redownloaded it and still got no joy at loading them, still got the unable to load .veg file message again. I will try to purchase them again and download them. I'm think I might as well uninstall and re-install Infinite again to see if that helps.

I am almost sure that you have purchased it for Esprit and therefore downloaded the version bound to that. You have to switch that, don't mix it up with the information for which versions the item is available.

Ok I'm going through purchasing them again, will make sure they are for infinite at checkout, Thanks for your help.

I've re-purchased the plants, uninstalled and reinstalled Vue Infinite, re-installed the plants but I still can't get the plants to load, I'm still getting the unable to read file message. I will contact Cornucopia to see what they suggest. Thanks for your help.

Ok got it sorted now.  I hadn't uninstalled Vue from my old hard drive, so I had to do that, delete the registry entries and reg file from the Windows folder.  After getting a reply  with advice from Cornucopia support, I was able to re-download the files, re-install vue back onto my new drive and install the plants.  Everything is working as it should now.

Thanks for the help.

Whew, what a to-do! How to make life difficult for your customer ...

I'll stick to buying my plants in Poser format from RDNA. This sort of over-protectionism just alienates me.
