Hiya!!!

YAAAAAY!!! So i finally got me a macro lens. A Tamron 90mm to be precise. I bought it used (mint condition) from E-bay and by doing so it only costed me half the price. So anyhoo...i went out to take some test-shots...only to find out that my cam was almost out of power. But i manged to take a few at least, and so far i think it´s amazing! Alot sharper than any of the Sigma´s i have.

This little caterpillar is about 1" big....and it´s mouthing off at me. :glare: Was really windy so it kept swinging back and forth on that leaf it was sitting on so the focus could have been better.

How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?

Wow Andreas! They're excellent. That looks like some great lil lens ya got there.

My eyes must really stink, though, because I can't see how much sharper the top one could get.It looks plenty sharp to me.

Both shots are wonderful.Congratulations buddy!

Dang...okay, maybe having a DSLR isn't such a bad thing after all. Kick-ass clarity Andreas. Must have been fun focusing on that caterpillar's face. Just for comparison purposes, here is a close-up of a caterpillar starting to cocoon that I took this morning with my C-8080 in super macro mode. Shrunk a bit of course. :)

Thank you! That one looks alot like mine by the way, only "mine" was yellow. Sweet macro my friend. Yup, DSLR´s sure have their benefits when it comes to swopping...swoping...swapping...sigh...lenses for different purposes. 😄

Real nice to hear... and see.
Be interesting to see how you progress with this lens, because I might find  one worth while soon.
Who says it has to be a nikon lens.
Unless some functions  do not work.
Looking good so far, my friend

Oh my God! Will ya look at these replies. Thank you so much guys! I had no idea that anyone replied after myself...because now i don´t even get ebots for the forum anymore. This is soooooo frustrating!!!!!

Yeah Randy...you should get the Tamron. It´s cheap and it´s great. Feels really sturdy as well. 😄 Once again...thank you!

Tamron?   Hummm...I have a Sigma and like it very much...I couldn't have gotten the wrong lens...no way. Must be the vibes or the photographer....oh well, I will take my lens and see how to compete with this flowerlike bug you show so well.    Enjoy!!!      TomDart.

Ok, here is a caterpillar(had to look up spelling on that),  Manual focus and my eyes put it just a tad in front of the bug.   I like yours better.

Oops...this is not simon simone...sorry.

Zacko ( ) posted Fri, 23 June 2006 at 12:34 AM

Aw, thank you Kim. That quote of yours still cracks me up, LOL. No worries Tom, of course you can show your macros in this thread. 😄 That´s an impressive macro for sure. I could even count the hair i i wanted. I´m sure the Sigma is great. I was deciding between either the Tamron, Tokina AT-X 100mm or the Sigma EX 105....but i got the best price for the Tamron.

You're not alone,Andreas.I didn't get an ebot for this thread, either.I guess things aren't fixed after all. :(

Nice shot,Tom.The verticality of all those lines make it very interesting.

Absolutely no trees were killed to produce this sig. Well, OK, we had to tie one up and torture it.
