Well, if I'm completly honest, I've not really had any problems with the site since the renovations. Forum messages have ben coming up ok - admitedly, not tried to buy anything from the store, so cant' comment on that - and if things have slowed down, it's been because of heavy traffic coming out from my end (with downloads, various other programs running, and so on). Surely I can't be the only person for whom there's no problem with the new set-up?

I'm not having a problem accessing anything and in general the forums, particularly, are much faster. Most other folks report the same results.
Marque, are you getting any error messages? Timeouts? What pages are you trying to load?

I had problems this morning courtesy of a lovely MySQL error whic has been fixed since everyone woke up and got into work. I couldn;t even load anything in the Marketplace beyond the first page and all the "program" forms were missing with the rest yet to load.
It happens and I just wait until its daylight CST and then start trying again.
I too experienced the MySQL errors mentioned by Valerian70 this morning. Now, I would chalk up some intermittent site slowness to the hub you happen to be on. Overall, I find the site access to be much faster. But these aforementioned errors could only be explained as local Renderosity (actually BondWare by the looks of it) server database issues. These can only be caused on the server end and not on the client or in transit. Somebody was futzing around at Bondware, weren't they? ;)

Probably, but I guess we'll never know :m_laugh:

I still can't use the back button 50% of the time and I still can't cut and paste using Mozilla suite. I continue to have browser crashes on some threads.
I have no such problem anywhere else on the web.
Patiently awaiting a resolution to this, but I'm not visiting the store until it's fixed.

i never had a problem - maybe those with problems should look at their own systems - it is so hard to develop websites that will serve 100% of users perfectly every time and having a load of monkeys on your back telling you to shove it and the like just makes things harder - much easyer if people log simple error logs with the administrator so they know what is wrong- seeing as the forums are free and the knowledge shared here is invaluble (if you got a problem/qustion then you usualy get help here v quickly) reccon you should all stop moaning or go and start your own community!

it can be a bit slow to access the site in firefox (i use ff on a mac as my main browser) but once in it is fine - no problems in safari or any other browser - it could be that the server is just realy bussy and that you have to wait to get in! - thats why this place rocks - lots and lots and lots of people all contributing to the knowlege bubble - i only got vue/poser just over a month ago and now use them on many project just using the knowledge i got here (better than most books!) so nextime it is slow just take a moment to drink your coffee or have a smoke(or just use ie or safari)!
also dont bash the webmasters- i bet most of them do this in there spair time and what with all the other shit that life throws at you they dont need any more from their hobby!(or you)

Hmmm... most of the staff use Firefox and none of us are having problems with crashes, etc.For those with Firefox, there is a fix for the cut/paste issue. Link attached.

I wasn't bashing :( At least I didn't mean it to come across like that.
Karen said we'll never know, so I posted a "spy camera" picture as a bit of humour.
If anyone felt "bashed", I sincerely apologize. It was not my intention :)

I just don't know. If you give that ape enough time, he might just produce some really good theatrical plays reminiscent of early Renaissance England. Or he'll just check out all of the porn sites. ;P

What about the back button issue? I stopped looking for a touch since the posts of complaining were flowing so freely but I still can't go back 90 percent of the time.
I have no idea on back button problems, sorry. Could you please try posting to the Community Centre with details of what happens (or rather doesn't happen!) your browser type and version and OS. Maybe the code monkeys can figure it out, in between bashing out Shakespeare plays ;-)

I have noticed some real attrition.
I'm sure that is extremely helpful to those coding the site.
What gets me is so many complaints with no real information that is helpful
1. what is /is not happening and under what conditions
2. Browser information
3.OS information.
These are good things for those coding the site to know if your objective is to be helpful. This book may be helpful.
But if this is just a bitch thread...then disregard all of the above.

“The fact that no one understands you…Doesn’t make you an artist.”
The browser "hangs" when I click a link to a thread from the "top of the forum".
a. My connection is a high speed cable service in downtown Toronto, Canada provided by a relaible national telecom service. I have been using the internet daily since 1992 and have never had any page on any site hang or crash any browser prior to my attempt to use the Renderosity Forums after "the switch". I have no problem with anything relating to the store or Free Stuff however.
b. It took me four attempts to view this thread right now, in each of the first three instances it "hung" on loading this page. I click the link and the window goes blank and the browser becomes unresponsive. This happens for any of five or so browsers I have tried.
c. I believe it may be the scripts related to this reply box since there is a five second delay putting in the formating toolbars when I do get a successful load of a forum thread.
d. These hangs can not be interrupted by clicking the shut button on the window, by hitting Ctrl-W, or closing from the taskbar. Using the task bar to close does not work and can cause a system freeze. I must use the Windows Task Manager to shut the browser... doing so from the applications tab does not work, I must do it from the process tab and it usually takes two or more attempts to terminate the process.
e. If I do not terminate the process the hang persists as long as I leave it uninterupted... I have tried going and making a cappachino and returned to find the browser is still hung.
f. I would estimate I succesfully load a page 20%-40% of the time. I know this is consistant with the experience of a couple people with high profile in the community who dropped from sight. They told me they do not visit the forum because they are unwilling to search for a browser that does not crash when visiting the site.
g. I have not been able to obtain a hang or crash from any other web page no matter how hard I try. I have never had any other web page hang a browser much les five different ones.
h. I have not had any trouble with any other site using Bondwear forum softwear that appears to be in the same configuration (sorry, I honestly can't remeber which sites those were but I found them by Googling). This problem seems completly isolated to this forum, I have never experienced ANY problem of ANY sort visiting any other website aside from the obvious dead link every once in a while. I have never had a single other web page crash or hang any browser and this remains the case even though I have attempted to find particularly unreliably coded sites to test and see if this problem really had to do with the new Renderosity software.
Main browsers I use (I have set security to low on each incase this was a java or ActiveX problem)
a. Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr etc etc. All updates and patches
b Mozilla - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007 All updates and patches
c. FireFox - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6 All updates and patches
d. I have tried three or four other browsers obtained from Tucows and obtained the same results.
I have this experience regularly on two computers
a. Compaq Presario S4100NX - 2.5Mhz Celeron 1Gb RAM WinXP Home Edition All updates and patches
b. HP DV5130 AMD Turion 64 ML-37 2Ghz Media Center Lap top 1 GB RAM
c. I had this experience on a borrowed HP desktop in New York. It was also running WinXP but I don't know what the configuration. It was also MSIE on a high speed cable connection.
I don't mean to bum you out. Obviously some people are having no problems but all of the above is absolutly true for me :( Everytime I try to view a thread in the forum I ask myself why I am still here! I see a drop off, and as I said, I know people (using Firefox or Mozilla) who have told me they left because of exactly the same problems. I do not mean to "pick a fight", these are just the facts, you asked for them. But of course if I really couldn't take it I would vote with my feet right? :) I dunno. The bottom line is most people are happy I guess so there is no reason to worry about me dropping out :)
Damn wertu...you read that book quick. 8 )
Now that is what I call helpful information.
Touché
I pointed an admin to this thread earlier and was informed that Nicholas is on vacation this week but my guess is he'll see it.
Usually site-ware issues are posted in the "Community Forum",which the coders check, but they usually have to be pointed to these threads if they live in forums other than the Community forum.
BTW...you didn't bum me out. I don't take this stuff very seriously.

Mea culpa... My first post was a very lame attempt at being humorous al a Samuel Beckett --Watt listening to three frogs in a ditch croaking in every posible sequences... goes on for a couple pages, pretty funny. I was actually surprised to see this thread here instead of CF. I realy do figure that since the problems were brought up already early on and since most people are happy it really is my bad luck, which is why I have not complained. I just need to accept or not accept the situation. So far I am :) Got here today on the second try :) Status bar usual goes 90-95% before the freeze which is why I think it is the toolbars on the reply form that are the problem.
I am glad I didn't bum you out.
I used to code back in the keypunch days and I apreciate that the same code won't always run the same way on every machine... in the 21st century I imagine you have to multiplly that effect exponentially. There are couple apps I would really like to use but that don't work for me, it is not the fault of the writers, it is an unfortunate and unfathonable mix of mysteries... GREMLINS! I figure each and every thing I load on my computer increase the chance that something could get mixed up in some incomprehensible way... this is why I think all computer software should be 500Kb or under ;-) Including the OS! WinDOS worked fine for me!
I am glad we are cool. I should think that there is an acceptable level of failure on a project like this... if you are staying in that tollerence... then no worries.

Used to like it here but it's so slow now that it's beyond annoying. I've noticed a lot of folks have left and I know I don't come in like I used to. Fix it please or put it back the way it was. Even the store is like cold syrup, while other sites with as much content are loading almost instantly. Whoever you hired to do your new site should be drawn and quartered.
