hi everyone, shane here from annapolis md

i just started using VUE, and I mean about an hour or two ago. I am trying to create my first scene, i have some experience with lightwave and maya. i am doing a simple atmosphere, a few mountains, and im popping a few square/rectangular polygons to serve as buildings, using some of the buildings textures. i cant believe how easy this is. can i apply one texture to the sides of the polygons, and a different color texture to the top of the polygon. i know i could just lay one polygon over the other but i want to know if you can apply different colors/textures to different sides of the same polygon??

any help would be appreciated. thanks ini advance.

Generally state what version of Vue your using helps, And thats what this forum is here for asking Q's. In the backroom (lookup at the header) there are plenty of tutorials I have found very helpful...

Okay so you want to put a different top on a (cube) building, most of the models have a (+) symbol in the right side viewer, this will expand to individual components of the object. click a highlight on a component and change its texture.

And play with some of the free models in the FreeStuff ....

I'm not sure exactly what your question is, but if you're asking, "Can I put a different map on each side of a cube?", then the answer is NO. But you can use parametric mapping projection to put a single map which wraps completely around the cube. You 'll need to check the docks for that.

You can also export the cube as polys, then import it back, and then separate it into separate polys, which then can each have a map applied to them.

Also, I know it's the in thing to do-- not use any punctuation, or capitalization in your messages. But, they do make them very hard to read. Perhaps you might take a second and consider making them more readable for those who wish to help you.

The exporting and then importing sounds like the quickest way to get what I'm looking for.

And I promise to capitalize my letters, cross my tees and dot my eyes too.
