Subject: Just a few quick questions for R'osity...

tmathise ( ) posted Thu, 20 July 2006 at 11:06 PM · edited Sat, 30 November 2024 at 1:35 AM

I know you're really busy, so I'll try to make this as brief as possible.

  1. Will our homepage eventually display how many times our profile has been viewed (as it used to)?

  2. Will there be anyway to know a members' real name through their homepage/profile, so we can (for example) - comment on an artists' work with a "Nice work Schlomo," instead of "Nice work XXX1234"?

  3. Will there be an "Art Charts" archive, so we can look up a given weekly period?

That's all for now!

Thanks for all of the fine work you've done and are continuing to do to make this community the best there is!

I don't know the answer to any of your questions, but I had to stop in and tell you that if that's you in your avatar, that you're very easy on the eyes!   :)  Ever considered moving to central Canada?  hehe

Only one way you can find out a members real name is by doing a member search..and only if that member has entered their real name ;)

The other two questions I cant answer, but will let one of the team know so maybe they can answer them for ya 😄

I never keep my real name on the Gallery side of the site in my profile. It's private except for the people I choose to give it to.  I just found it showing on the member search. The site change over seems to have put my name in from the market side making it freely accessable to any member without my permision or consent.
Was there ever an official notice the sight changes would do this?.

I've suddenly lost my sense of humor.

Its always been like that afaik,  and I have been here for 4 yrs now...??

As far as Im aware, what you put in your profile, is what will be seen upon a member search...

Have you ever done a member search on yourself before now?
Also, Im not familiar with the marketplace side of things..so dont know if there is a seperate profile for that...Stac or Sandy might be better able to help you on that one.

Yes I did check the member search before. My full name did not show up before now.

I only enter my real info at point of purchase in the market place. The system never used to keep it. It never over wrote the filler info in my profile before the site change over.

Well as near as I remember from the 'old ways', if you sent an email to anyone you'd see it [given name]as well as theri handle. Have used this for communicating with those I've had to move files on as it always seemed a little nicer to address them with their given names rather than a 'handle'.

And yes jumpy is correct, you could always see both names in a member search.

I didn't put my real name in my profile so how did it get there?

When you sign up your 'real name' is required and there doesn't seem to be a place to 'hide real name' there...does seem like there should be...will bring this up in the Moderators Forum...

Bobby's right..you have to fill it in...'something' has to be there....I have even see some fill out those spaces with something like, Blah, Blah...

I think 'real' names should be the only thing accepted when filling out that profile info however, and the option to hide from regular members should be put in place, and only staff should be able to see the real names no matter what.

Okay Tim

1.  I will have to check on this with Tommy for you as I'm not sure this is something that we can bring over from the old side but will ask.

  1. We won't show this on the "Homepage" unless the member decides to put it there themself. The real name is only on the profile page and its up to each person if they want to put their real name in their homepage bio.

  2. I'm asking about the Art Chart Archives as well.

Thanks

StaceyG ( ) posted Fri, 21 July 2006 at 11:35 AM

Tim,

The view counts on the Homepage won't be available for awhile but on down the road when we get some other things taken care of, we will discuss the coding that has to be done around having this available on the homepage again.

Still waiting on an answer regarding the Art Chart archives

Thanks

The member search on the old .ez side is no longer something we will have so any "real name" information you put in to your profile, checkout, etc won't be for public viewing here.

Thanks

Thanks R'osity for answering my questions, mostly anyways!

Please let me know if your team needs any assistance with the "profile views" code.

It's really an easy feature to restore (taking about 20 minutes or so). That is unless that information has not been collected and stored in the database since the new servers and php implementation went online.

Thanks everyone for their feedback as well!

You are welcome Tim.   There are some other things involved there surrounding the page view count and at this time its not one of the main priorities but I'm sure they will get there:)

I also heard back regarding the Art Chart Archives and at this time there is no archives in the works but the programmers are going to discuss and see if that is something they can put on their list.

Thanks

Interesting.  So then when ever a persons 'real name' is verified (by a purchase?) that persons personal profile is automatically updated to match because it's required for use of the site?
