Very nice render, the grass looks very believable. Nice looking girl, but the bend on the wrist of the right hand needs to be touched up a bit. The way its posed looks like the top edge of a creased piece of cardstock.
That aside, all in all, I'd say the render is top rate.

That's pretty good work Boni. I don't think you need to use the bump channel though. Using the displacement channel should be enough. Bump only simulates texture and depth so using both to do your grass seems overkill. Using the displacement channel is a good way to do it though. I use a noise node myself, but I like the way the node you used varies the color.
It's all fun and games...

Interesting. If you drop Displacement and Granite Balance to 0.2, you get a pretty good shag carpet. It gets a bit more realistic if you add Noise/Turbulence to the Granite colors.
And one limitation: Don't expect it to work in closeups, because Displacement runs the blades of grass right through the toes. :)

Yep - you can also use hair.Follow the link.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
Totally right on the bump channel ... I just never changed the original setting on that. As far as the wrist goes, thanks for pointing that out. I'll fix that. :) The Hair technique I considered, but when I tried grass props it choked my system, I wasn't sure what the hair room would do ... but it will work great for closeups and I'll do that next time. Great link! Thanks all.

Okay, I don't know how many of you have experimented with displacement mapping in Poser. It has some wonderful potential I don't see being used. For example I stumbled onto this while working on my latest piece. (see link) I needed a plush lawn of dark grass, I downloaded models of grass and ... choaked my system trying to render it. Then I found "grass" in my material files (don't know where I got it but the technique is fairly simple) I hope these settings can be of some help to you all. :)Boni
