Subject: Anyone having problems with SR3 in poser 6?

Anyone having problems with SR3 in poser 6? I still can't get my document window set to anything over 786 high. Poser resizes it to that. Anyone know why this is happening? I installed SR3. Thanks

 Problems!!! Hell Yes

This release is behaving worst then P5 did.I am ready to uninstall and go back to SR2

I am constalnly having random unrecoverable  Screen Freezes. When I switch back and forth between the Material room and pose room

Sorry I could not duplicate your max height problem. But I have had problem with the sizing of the rendering not matching the document window. I have 2.5 Gig of ram so I know that is not a factor

since my renders are very simple... The graphics tablet addition  thing seems to hang also...

Phooey BOO wait for SR3.1

ratscloset ( ) posted Sun, 23 July 2006 at 4:00 PM

I am not having that issue. Contect Tech Support and let them know. Might be something simple like needing to Upgrade Video Driver, or it might be something they are not aware of.

My Poser works nicely, so by the moment I avoid this update...

What screen resolution are you using? If you are using 1024 x 768 what would be the advantage of a larger preview window?

Just trying to understand what you want to do :)

Khai ( ) posted Sun, 23 July 2006 at 4:24 PM

mines working fine... and at a preview window size of 1045x833.
(Machine : Sempron 2400, 1.5GB Ram, Geforce FX 5200 128mb Card driving 2x17" CRT's at 2560x1024. Nvidia Drivers at 84.21. Running on Windows XP Professional SR2. Desktop Shell : Aston 1.9.2 and Windows Explorer. )

infact.. not had any lockups, slowdowns, memory outages or indeed any problems at all with Sr3...

No probs here so far and it's been at least a week since I've installed SR3.

I meant height of 768. Yes, it is SR3. I uninstalled Poser 6 and reinstalled it without any updates. I was able to resize my document window to 1000 by 1000 or whatever I wanted. I shut down Poser, then reinstalled SR3. Opened Poser, and the document window size would not let me resize it to anything taller than 768. So, I unstalled Poser 6 again, reinstalled it, then installed service release 2 - thank God I still had it! Now, everything is working fine. Think I'll hold off on SR3 until this is fixed.

Had lots of problems when I installed SR3 right over the Poser 6 I had been running.
So I uninstalled Poser 6, reinstalled a fresh copy of Poser 6, applied SR3,
and haven't had any problems since.

Try reinstalling Poser 6 and then SR3 BEFORE you open Poser 6.  You may
have corrupted it by opening it before you installed SR3.

Khai, you have a Geforce FX 5200 ?  I am guessing that you have the latest drivers installed for that, yes?  I am having a problem installing the latest driver.  My machine just seems to like one driver for it which doesn't work with Poser 6.  I've tried to install the latest driver and the machine just freezes.  So much so it's a major effort to get to restore to fix it back to how it was.

The only thing I don't procrastinate is procrastinating. That I do right away.

nooo! I don't have the latest... I installed it, things borked so I rolled back.. there's been some complaints about the latest.. I'm gonna skip a version..

the problem one I had was
**ForceWare Release 90
Version: 91.31
Release Date: June 23, 2006

** I rolled back to the one before that..

I didn't even bother with that update because I heard do  many not so good things about it. I have a FX 5200 also.

I have the l have the latest NVidia drivers on both my machines with Nvidia FX 5200's and they run just fine. Machine 1 is a Compaq Presario running at 2.8Ghz with 1 gig of ram and the other on my older E-Machine with 2 gigs of ram running at 1.8 Ghz. The cards are identical.

Khai ( ) posted Mon, 24 July 2006 at 5:57 AM

try them with the UVmapper Pro demo for starters.. (I know that borks) and several of the Reflective Arcade games (exiting the game leaves you with a black screen)..

Well I just checked and I too can't set my document window over 786 high either. I never noticed it before because I don't use a document size over 600 high. I have my document size set at 600 x 600. I don't like a big document window because it covers all the tabs and tools.

So I uninstalled poser 6, did a clean install, did not open the program, then installed SR3, rebooted and THEN I opened poser 6. Still can't open the document window any higher then 768. So this is yet another poser mystery. Outside of this everything else seems to be running good.

No problems here since installing.

Dizzi ( ) posted Mon, 24 July 2006 at 10:08 AM

From the SR3 readme: - Document size dialog will now only accept reasonable dimensions So, do you happen to use a multi monitor setup with one screen resolution lower than 800px vertially?

nruddock ( ) posted Mon, 24 July 2006 at 11:37 AM

The "reasonable dimensions" appear to be limited by screen size.
Remember you can still render at a different size.
If the render dimensions have a different aspect ratio, you'll see a lighter coloured band in the preview window to indicate what will be rendered.

Khai ( ) posted Mon, 24 July 2006 at 11:56 AM

that makes perfect sense you know.. locking the max window size to the screensize.. stops things being lost off screen...

drifterlee ( ) posted Mon, 24 July 2006 at 5:11 PM

Well, I use a big document window to render big images so I can see where I am putting stuff. Can this be done another way?

modus0 ( ) posted Mon, 24 July 2006 at 11:10 PM

I was able to get a document window of 800x800 with a screen resolution of 1280x1024, GeForce FX 5200 graphics card, Poser 6 SR3.

drifterlee, you could try zooming out the camera, increasing your screen resolution, or using different cameras.

Drifterlee, use different cameras (the dolly is handy) and just set your screen to 1/4 the size you intend to render at.  Set up your scene as you normally would and  then adjust your render dimensions so that it renders as big as you need.  There is no need to work in a huge window just because you want a large image ;-)

I stay within a 600 maximum size and render large

I'm curious. Is anyone able to download ANY of the readme files from Curious Labs? All the Poser downloads have a nearby note, "Read Before Downloading". Yeah. Would be nice if I could. I've clicked those links in IE and Firefox. nothing

The ReadMe links make a javascript call which open a new window, so you'll need to have javascript enabled, and (if you have one) your pop-up blocker set to allow the site to open a new window.

Angelsinger ( ) posted Wed, 26 July 2006 at 3:46 PM

Thanks, nruddock. :) I can get popups from any other site I visit. I'll check and see if there's anything else I can do.
