...archangel wings by Darkworld. Theyre in the free stuff section and theyre totally amazing. I rendered this pic while I was messing around with transmaps for the wings and it turned out so evil looking I posted it in the beginner gallery. Theres a slight glitch in the left wing that causes 2-3 little black holes to appear (no its not my transmap), editing them out in PS6 is the only postwork I did to this render. Trans/tex/bump maps for the wings are my own, as are the tex/bump maps and morphs on the model. There are no transmaps included in the wing package so youll have to make your own. Comes with some great morphs to curl/spread/arch/raise/lower the wings. Thanks Darkworld, awesome job.

I downloaded them and love them. I also had the dark areas but touched them up. Made mine transparent and have them on Renderosity Poser Gallery.

Nice render! The black spots might be the dreaded "degenerate facets", try opening them in UV Mapper, and hitting the insert key. If if fixes them just resave the object.

Thanks for the tip. Appreciate it. It really didn't bother me about the dark areas. They were small and so easy to fix.

Heres a pic without any postwork showing the holes in the left wing. Jim I'm very inexperienced in using UV Mapper: so far all that I've used it for is exporting UV maps so that I can create textures. Im not too worried about it because theyre relatively easy to fix in Photoshop, but if anyone wants to have a go at fixing them then be my guest.

What is the link to these? THANKS!

Do a search in the Renderosity poser free stuff section for "wings" or "darkworld" and youll find them. Theyre called "Archangel Wings". Theyre quite bland and plastic-like without a proper bump/texture/transparency map. You can make them in photoshop yourself -- maybe Ill release mine after some more tweaking.

UVMapper by Steve Cox is an essential tool for altering the layout of UV coordinates (which are used for texture mapping) on any .obj file. You can also use it to create templates and to add, change, or delete surface materials, and a bunch of other handy stuff. Steve generously provides it as a free download. www.uvmapper.com

Steve also seems to be one of the few that actually understand degenerate facets, I sure don't! Sometimes I can see what I did wrong in the model, and fix it in Max, othertimes UVMapper is a lifesaver. My hat is off to Steve for providing such a great utility.
