Yes, but one day they are posting and have a large gallery, the next they and their gallery have dissapeared off the site with no explanation - they should post a "I've moved" message.

Last time I saw a comment by her on one of my images was the 28th. Just sent her off an IM pointing her here because I saw that she is online. Maybe she'll read it and either come here or answer mine or send you one, drifterlee. Hope you don't mind that I did that.

Knowing how tempermental we artsy types can be, a dissappearing gallery usually points to someone who's been unkindly and unneccesarily wounded by someone's snarky comments or criticisms. I hope someone's kind words can smooth it over.

Acadia ( ) posted Wed, 02 August 2006 at 6:27 PM

Hmmm, the only "Angel Dust" I found in the members search was "Angeldust" and the page indicated that the person was a male named "Rick".

I see everyone saying "She".  Is there another person using that handle?

Hello everyone, I was asked to take my Gallery down because i had used some picture tubes in  some of my images , I think this person should  take a look at others in Rendo who have used tubes instead of picking on one person. i was told to remove my gallery or she would do it for me. And oh buy the way i am a girl not a man LOLS i got a good laugh out of that.... the male angeldust doesnt use the underscore as i do. I thank you all for your concerns . i wish you all good luck in everything and your art work.

I think it all depends on what tubes are being used. Not all are royalty free.  And if they are cropped from existing art, those are often never ok to use unless you have the permission of the artist to use them and then you need to give copyright credit to them.

There are sites around that offer tubes made in poser or by vector or by digital painting.  And many of them don't require credit back.

Angel_Dust,

You were not asked to remove your entire gallery. You were asked to provide proof of permission for some of your images. You were told if you could not provide this proof of permission, then the images in question would have to be removed, and either you could remove it, or it would be done for you.

You are certainly not the only person who has had to provide proof of permission. We ask for proof of permission wherever there is doubt over the sources of an image.

Well, that seems kind of silly. Most tubes are given away free by their creators at assorted web sites. I suppose you could cite the web site you got the tubes from or make them yourself. I have had some pics taken down because I used Thorne ane Sarsa's characters nude and the admin thinks they look young - even if I give them large breasts, LOL!!! Just come back, Angel , and put where you got the tubes, if that makes them happy! Hugz, Sherrie

True, but in lots of cases the tubes that are given away are created from someone's art.  I was guilty of doing that before I wised up and came to see that it was wrong to take someone's art, crop out the background so I could isolate part of the image and then offer that part up as a "tube" on my site.  There are still lots of sites around that offer such "tubes". Perhaps those are the kinds of tubes that were used.  Without seeing the images, I don't know.

I offer Poser tubes on my site that I don't require credit back for, and I know others like Outlaw by Design also offer free Poser tubes for people to use.

As far as cropping out backgrounds i have never done that. i used tubes from sites that didnt require a link back and didnot care where you used the tubes as long as you didnt sell them. i have many free tubes from outlaw by design but as yet i never used them...

Then those should be ok to use.  Why don't you give the mods the link to the site you got the tubes from so that they can read the terms themselves. Then you can put your images back. It seems a shame to take down a whole gallery.

So does this mean if I make a character in Poser that I bought and done postwork on it in what ever program I choose and turned it into a tube and have Angel_Dust use it in one of her images is this Allowed? Or is it only Merchants can do that?

Yes.

That's mostly what I use Poser for; to make tubes for people to download and use in their creations.  Sometimes I'll use the image to make something for my gallery, but 95% of the time I just upload them to my site as a .png file for others to download.  Lots of Poser users do the same thing.

There are also loads of free backgrounds to be found here in free stuff and at RDNA too. Mystic Nights directory can point you to not only backgrounds but also poser tubes if you want.  Just type "Background" or "poser" or "tube"  and you will find some sites with gorgeous backgrounds and tubes that  you can use in your gallery images.

Here is a great site for backgrounds:

I HAVE COLLECTED TUBES FOR TWO YEARS NOW .I HAVE TRYED TO GO BACK TO MANY OF THE SITES I SAVED IN MY FAVES BUT THEY HAD BEEN TAKEN DOWN..... I ONLY KNOW OF ONE THAT REMAINS....I ONLY USED THEM FOR MY OWN ENJOYMENT ....I ONLY USED RENDEROSITY CAUSE MY NEICE WANTED ME TO SEE HER WORK..... THEN SHE ASKED ME TO PUT MY ARTWORK IN TO HELP GIVE ME SOMETHING TO TAKE MY MIND OFF THE DEATH OF MY LITTLE GIRL... I DONT SEE WHERE I'M HURTING ANYONE BY POSTING MY ART .... I AM HANDICAPPED AND POOR EYESITE AND IT ALSO HELPS ME IN THAT RESPECT. THANKS ANGEL_DUST

Angel_Dust,
I specifically asked you about one image, and the tubes it contained. Further, I told you other images of yours that contained tubes might be inquired about, but at that time, I only asked you about one image.

You were asked to supply infomation regarding your use of these questioned tubes, and you stated you did not know where you had aquired them, and that they came from websites that offer free tubes. You were also told that many sites offer free tubes, but that many of these sites are illegally distributing the artworks of others without their permission, and that is why we needed to know where you aquired them.

You were then informed that if you could not supply this information, that you would have to remove the image.

If you have any further complaints regarding this matter, you may contact an Admin at admin@renderosity.com
