Hi,

I'm thinking about getting Blender3D. Is it hard to use? How long would it take to get to grips with? Any info would be helpful, thanks.

The interface is quite different, and takes considerable getting used to. I got the blender 2.3 guide, which is a helpful book. Many have a hard time with blender. However, it's free and certainly worth a long look.

OK, here`s more;)

Getting into Blender requires strong nerves: the interface initially looks very chaotic. The first "breakthrough" is very difficult. I remember it as a very unpleasant period: in the addition to problems with strange interface, I also had problems with graphics card drivers and I never knew if a particular problem was just misunderstanding, or wrong displaying. Just imagine all these disappearing buttons and menus that didn`t want to open :0

After that you slowly start realizing that you have a powerful tool. But Blender interface is like Han Solo ship: you can do really much [for free!!], but sometimes you have to know where to bump with your fist if nothing works:P

I collected a number of tuts during staring period and if you would like to consult them, please visit my page.

"Noob to pro" is especially up-to-date.
Also, I found "Class Blender" very useful for understanding the interface. Do a google, sorry, I don`t have it linked directly.

Is this your website?  I ask because I just tried the first two really beginner links on BlenderCafe - and there's nothing there.

It just comes up with:
