Um, I made this street lamp but I'm not sure about the cast shadows, receive shadows etc etc - does it look right?

Looks odd to me with that sort of photographic reflection-ish thing on the ground.

The shadows are okay but that bit looks odd - is there anyway to get rid of that without getting rid of the shadows?

However, those shadows that lay infront of the lamps maybe be caused by another light source...    you have to go to the light properties and knock out that source of light.....

nice lamps....

Nice lamps. personally I would knock the intensity back by about half and bump the edge softness up to between 25 - 45 just to soften around the outer edges.

Cheers

How do you get Edge Softness to activate?

Got the lamp lights looking a bit better - but I wanted the lamps' bulbs to glow that sodium orange... having some problems with it.

I dunno - Am I getting there, or not?  It's a bit too pink yet.  I'm adjusting the lamps glass colour and the light bulbs colour... it's tricky.

Can't use it with a radial light. Works with any other kind of light.

Aha, could explain why I hardly ever use it then.  Since I mostly use radials... with just the occasional spotlight.

I have been havering between radials and spotlights for this lamp - do you think it might be better with a spot then?

Okay... tried both radials and spotlights.  Spots with edge softness of 43 - which does look quite nice.

The pools of light from the spotlights looks great but those lamps with spotlights in them don't look so good as lamps.

The lamps with radials in them look great as lamps, but the light they cast has odd parallel lines in it...

Help?

Oh and the redish sodium lamps are still too pink.

off hand, the only thing I can think to try would be making the bulb and/or filament additive with very high ambience to give the lamp a good look (maybe?); and use the soft spotlights for the light source.

Sorry it took so long to answer (- more problems with my laptop - now it has to go away for repairs, so still using husband's laptop.)

I tried a few things, and it turns out that the lines were caused by the edges of the lamp glass - turning off "cast shadows" for that material cured that problem.

I do already have a fairly high ambience on the bulb and filament - didn't try additive, I'll try that and increasing the ambience too...  Thanks for the suggestion.

Turned out the ambience on the lamps was already 100%, but using additive did help, here's the result:^^^

On the red side of the street, the radials are in the middle, and I think I like those best.

But they all look better now, so thanks very much for your help, dvlenk6.

The what?

It's supposed to be a cobbled street, is it wrong?  How can I improve it?
